How delicious! Chocolate custard...is it somewhat like chocolate pudding, or different? Either way, I would love to fly cross-country and share a bite! :-D
Have you ever tried making pudding cake? It's made from scratch and forms into two distinct layers, pudding and cake, as it bakes? You can make it in custard cups for individual desserts.
When you posted about those tiny pyrex cups it reminded me of a simple recipe I saw on www.asailingjourney.blogspot.com the other day. The recipe is for Nigella Lawson's Choco-pots, a kind of molten lava cake with only a couple of ingredients. You can find watch the short video recipe here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrLKa2AAMbk

So that's how you cook all these amazing things and still stay slender...you let your children eat the goodies! I'll have to remember that... ;)
It seems like if it's chocolate it has to be good!
If that's anything like creme brulee or flan, I'll take it! Hope you post the vintage recipe. I'd love to give it a try.
