Vintage Girl's Playdress: Simplicity 2243

Isn't this a fabulous pattern cover? I don't know whether to choose the little girl pulling the train or the one with handfuls of suckers.

Lovely front panel sports an inverted pleat, and is trimmed, of course, with rickrack!

White linen collar and sleevebands, vintage green buttons, great sash that's twice as wide at the ends.

I think she stepped out of a Dick and Jane story.

Daisy you are just too cute in your little green
dress. And yes you do look like a page from
a Dick and Jane book. Just a precious little dress.
A shame (in my opinion) that all little girls don't
wear more "little girl" dresses.
Great job.

I agree about the Dick and Jane story, and I'm constantly amazed at how you create the atmosphere of that wholesome time in your home and family.

Just lovely! Maybe someday? For now all I can manage are straight lines - we have lots of pillows! Maybe I'll try an apron and then work my way up!

Don't you love puffed sleeves and Peter Pan collars? I had so, so many dresses like that when I was little.

Compare to Hannah Montana clothes...no thanks!

I totally agree with g.l.h...Hannah Montana's got *NOTHING* on your girls. I love the little girls dresses, and I'm hoping to learn to sew well enough to make something similar by the time my "bun" is that age!

Precious dress-- Your sewing is so nice. I wish I were as talented as you are in that regard. My favorite reading books for children are still the Dick, Jane, and Sally series. I collect them.

I loved the price on the pattern-- 25 cents- Weren't those the good ole days!

Adorable! I too agree about loving "little girl" dresses - they can be so sweet and stylish without having to be "trendy".

So true - that is darling! My new kindergartner is having a ball reading those stories. :^)

I don't think I've ever commented here but now I will. What a sweet dress! I wonder if I could get my mom to sew one for my 2.5 year old. Daisy looks so very cute!
I love to come over and see what you have posted here because your blog reminds me that yes, amidst many children and a household to care for, time can be made to create and enjoy beautiful things. It's like fresh spring air to this mommy of 4 under 6. I often read and think "someday, I'll arrange my flowers like that, too"!

Having spent the weekend at a Beth Moore Event the word that comes to mind is "precious". And Daisy really is.

The green dress is very flattering on your younger one. She looks delighted to have a mother who has master the sewing machine so well.
