Both Sides of the Sticky Buns
They're whole wheat. And walnuts are good for you.
Just overlook the massive quantities of butter and brown sugar . . .
Use any light sweet dough recipe, and melt together in a saucepan 2 sticks of butter, 3 cups of brown sugar, and 1/2 c. corn syrup. Pour most in the bottom of your pans (with 1 cup of walnuts per pan), reserving some to spread in rolls as the filling. Makes enough to handle a two-loaf (about 7 cups of flour) quantity of dough.

Sinfully delicious!
Anna, this looks exactly like what I remember from staying with a friend when I was about 10 or 11 years old. They were called 'sticky buns' and they were to-die-for. Thank you for posting this!
I was browsing over some blogs to find some new food to make and I am happy to see this in here!
I wonder what I could substitute for corn syrup? Golden Syrup perhaps?
b.t.w first Word verification 'medic' second one 'toothe'. Just need the next one to be 'cavity'.
Perfect!
yummy, those look delicious!
Yes, sometimes I tend to think that if part of a recipe is healthy, I can forgive the rest of it. But those buns look delicious.
Lucille: Perhaps you could substitute honey or maple syrup for the corn syrup. I'm not sure what that would do to the consistency, but it would be a more healthy alternative.
Oh my... Those make me wonder why I only make them a couple times a year... and then I remember how hard I have to work to work off those yummy creations... Yeah, twice a year is enough...
man...those look delicious!
Oooh, they look gorgeous!!
Lucille, I usually use maple syrup and butter for the sticky part.
And Anna, I think a life without sticky buns would be unhealthy! I must make some. . .
Heavens to Betsy those look delicious!!
Anna - so curious about your home. You have mentioned your Mom planning the mudroom and your Dad assembling the barn 30 years ago. How did you and the Composer come to be living in the schoolhouse? Did your parents own it first? Would you be willing to share that story with us sometime?
- Esther
Dear Anna - Since I would have learned how you came to live in the schoolhouse if I had waited a few minutes and kept reading . . . . can I trade that question for another one? :-) Are there any "clips" of the Composer's music available to hear? Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. - Esther
