Even If, and Camellias at Thanksgiving
"Though the fig tree should not blossom,
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail,
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold,
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation."
Habakkuk 3:17-18

That is one of my favorite passages of scripture!
I feel funny even mentioning this to the wife of a Composer, but John G. Elliott has done a beautiful job of setting those verses to music on his CD "The Paradise of God." Perhaps your husband has also set those verses to music!
I was just thinking on this subject - i.e., being faithful to God even when it's bad!
Love the camellias.

Beautiful, Anna. (The verse, the thought, and the photo.)
Anna, thank you for posting this. It was my go to verse for a decade or so to deal with my feelings towards God in various circumstances I needed to pass through, but I haven't thought of it for ages - but reading it today I realised I need a dose of that medication again so will write it out and pin it by my sink. God bless x
". . . for He sets my feet upon the high places."
no matter what, i take joy {in Him}.
Those are very inspiring and comforting verses, thank you for posting them. I may do the same on my blog.--Perhaps we should all pass this one along so that we can comfort one another. :o)
This verse is written on my kitchen wall above our table.
Have a meaningful weekend.

Such a delicate capture of the camellias.
I love this scripture.
And the camellias.
We as celebrating Thanksgiving at my mother's, and she and I just finished clipping dozens of her beautiful camellias this morning: pink, peppermint, rose tinged with blue and deep red. Bouquets all over the house and we are so happy.
Very lovely and thought-provoking post. That is a book of the bible not often read by my family. A nice reminder. I hope you and yours had a wonderful thanksgiving.
Hi Anna,
I have been enjoying your blog for several years now and know by doing so that you love to sew vintage clothing. A friend of mine just gave me three Folkwear Patterns - Glamour Girl Dress- 233, Sophisticated Lady Suit and shell - 236 and Fifties Fit and Flair, dresses to sew with three neckline options - 241. I thought of you and would love to give them to you if it is something you may like. Please let me know.

This verse was found by me six years ago on the loss of my baby girl. I saw that today and was encouraged that it is still true today for my right now. That is TRUE thanksgiving. Have a blessed weekend. Thanks as always, for sharing. Christina
Karen, I would love those! Please e-mail me, my address is in my complete profile. Thanks!
Thank you to everyone who posted about this verse, too. Makes it even more meaningful to me.
