I especially like the way the light is coming from the window to the right, and illuminating the gray of the wall, and the trim. And, as always, your styling is fantastic!Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04683300101212187900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-5360720614632251572009-10-30T08:01:35.389-05:002009-10-30T08:01:35.389-05:00Lisa--Hang in there! I have never been more astonished at the changes paint can make than when I walked into my friend's formerly-dark-wood-paneled family room, which she painted a pale cream. Astounding and so beautiful--and as you mentioned, it really lends a cottage-y look to the whole place.

2 months ago I painted my kitchen cabinets (formerly oak, now white). It was torture, esp w/ a 2 year old running around, but it was so worth it! I love them now.Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09403233175071026416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-22116228772187067992009-10-30T07:43:34.294-05:002009-10-30T07:43:34.294-05:00Anna, we have B. I'm painting over a dark, unpleasant panelling, so.... 3 coats of primer, and it may even need 3 coats of paint! This is on 3 walls, and when we remove the peeling paper on the 4th wall, that's going to be a nice light, warmish blue called Fresh Water.
There's a cutout between the kitchen & living rm, which shows the wallpaper - pink & blue on cream, which we're keeping - so I thought we'd have to do beige or whitish to avoid too many colors but then I suddenly thought of a soft yellow as a possibility. My intent is a red, white and blue scheme, with yellow. I think it will be nice. The texture from the grooves in the panelling is very appealing, and reminds me of a cottage at the beach or something.Lisateresanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-28654128879624199972009-10-30T02:25:27.489-05:002009-10-30T02:25:27.489-05:00Beautiful! My mother painted her entire lower floor the most beautiful and intriguing color, and convinced me with the first sight of it. It is by Valspar and is called, "Churchill Hotel Hazy Yellow". The interesting thing is that it looks like the perfect creamy, buff, light yellow ochre, however it is not "yellowy". Probably the most interesting color I have seen. It looks beautiful in all forms of light adn with all her colors. It's in their "historic" color collection. Gorgeous!
KAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-80913945183573466342009-10-29T23:11:53.666-05:002009-10-29T23:11:53.666-05:00Would you mind sharing the name/make of the paint ...Would you mind sharing the name/make of the paint color on that wall? It is so beautiful. I also remember your mango-colored wall and would love that color name as well, if you don't mind? I'm hoping to make some changes and am always looking for inspiration and "tried and true" colors before stepping up to the thousands of paint chips all lined up at the paint store.
Thanks!
KAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-23784561847731611222009-10-29T22:43:02.692-05:002009-10-29T22:43:02.692-05:00Lisa, what color are you using?Lisa, what color are you using?Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10747223126169684757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-44049022688849735582009-10-29T22:34:11.406-05:002009-10-29T22:34:11.406-05:00What a picture perfect photo! What a picture perfect photo!Cupcake Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01744987817618154520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-26114364131577808792009-10-29T21:52:22.474-05:002009-10-29T21:52:22.474-05:00I started painting our living room this week - it&...I started painting our living room this week - it's aggravating and wondrous at the same time.
