I bought a large bag of them in wacky 1970s rust colors at the thrift store last year; I thought they would make fun playthings for the children (sort!! Stack!! Tiny blankies!!); the bag also included several items that look like very tiny knitted sombreros. Quite mysterious, but amusing.

Granny squares. I love the idea of making my own, as I have plenty of yarn bits leftover from projects and am always trying to figure up ways to use them, and it would be neat to make a blanket for my own baby! Do you care to share your technique? Or I'm sure I could google 'granny squares.' Love the Internet!!Pollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09403233175071026416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-74234640575114778882011-09-15T10:59:00.603-05:002011-09-15T10:59:00.603-05:00Kay, when I finish a square I take the tail (it...Kay, when I finish a square I take the tail (it's about 1.5-2 inches long) and weave it into the same-colored stitches. I do it as I go so I never have to face one thousand ends to weave in.Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10747223126169684757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-12594971767561291482011-09-15T10:28:37.301-05:002011-09-15T10:28:37.301-05:00What do you do with the "tails"? I'm afraid to wash the afghan now in fear they will come undone. Should I have tied them and then tucked the tails, or not tied them and tucked the tails, or maybe I did it correctly????
Thanks,
KayAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-60922905270337679682011-09-14T18:37:58.863-05:002011-09-14T18:37:58.863-05:00Those colours are beautiful.
