Students can either choose to go to community college or directly to a university.

At community college students can take the first two years of a four year university degree or get a certificate in a trade, similar to a TAFE.

A four year college is very similar to a regular uni is Australia. We take four years because there are extra studies in history, art, philosophy, etc in addition to the area of specialization.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-92159735232386083092007-05-06T18:20:00.000-05:002007-05-06T18:20:00.000-05:00Congratulations Giles and his teachers.Congratulations Giles and his teachers.Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06659929017085133209noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-90320006532150089152007-05-06T12:49:00.000-05:002007-05-06T12:49:00.000-05:00Congratulations to Giles and of course to you. I am from Australia and we have primary school (Kindergarten to year 6 - age 6 to 12) and high school (year 7 to 12 - ages 13 to 18) Children can leave in year 10 at age 16 but most go on to year 12. Then we have University or technical college after year 12. Children can go to technical college after year 10 especially if they want to specialise in a trade or things like tourism and hospitality.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-16176334237104329792007-05-05T21:57:00.000-05:002007-05-05T21:57:00.000-05:00Wow what a smart kid just make sure he knows you w...Wow what a smart kid just make sure he knows you would love him even if he faildAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-64617844135117400412007-05-05T12:05:00.000-05:002007-05-05T12:05:00.000-05:00Woo-hoo! Can you share how you decided to send Giles to college rather than to a private high school? My daughter is ready for the rigors of college, but wants a "high school" experience of football games, being on the varsity golf team and with kids her own age.

She has taken one or two community college courses. She doesn't want to be "adults," she wants high school. I find so few folks faced with this type of problem, I would love for you to share the process you and your family went through to arrive at this decision.

Congratulations to Giles - he is going to be a great photographer!

Miss Marysmaryceleryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10563378335807736742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16182378.post-56591141155800209072007-05-05T10:53:00.000-05:002007-05-05T10:53:00.000-05:00Great Score, Giles. Hardly a day goes by now that I don't contemplate what homeschooling might have done for my own children (now 20 yrs.down the road); they were/are bright, creative people. I think about this now, especially, as I walk into my classroom of first graders.
LOVED the pics of your garden and the notes about the lettuce, radishes, and spinach.
