For the last several years I loved using a squirt of Method Floor Cleaner in my mop bucket; I alternated between bottles of lavender and lemon-ginger. But I haven't seen it at Target in months, and out of necessity have come up with something I love far more.
Oh, this is so delicious.
In my mop bucket I do a tiny dab of dishwashing liquid, then three or four drops of
peppermint essential oil. Cleaning heaven.
Anna,
ReplyDeleteThat is a great! I wanted to let you know too, that if you add the peppermint oil (a few drops to one squirt bottle - adjust accordingly) with some vinegar and water, you will have a great window cleaner too.
I have an organic cleaning business and my customers love the smell of the peppermint oil too!
Cheryl :-)
I use rosemary essential oil when I mop. It's invigorating too.
ReplyDeleteI have a few bottles of essential oils, and it's fun to use a different one according to my mood each time I mop. Peppermint oil also helps keep ants away. During ant season, in addition to using it in mop water, I drizzle a few drops on my counter and wipe with a damp rag. Smells lovely and cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Daisy in her smock!
ReplyDeleteI love using essential oils...Lemon and lavender, rosemary and eucalyptus or spearmint and eucalyptus...there are so many wonderful combos to come up with when mopping and cleaning!
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet!
ReplyDeleteI also love to use the peppermint oil. Smells so refreshing.
Too cute for words. Even the boys could not argue, and they like picutes of Daisy best when she is around food. Lynn
ReplyDeleteMmmm....I have some essential oils! I'll have to try that next time I mop. Thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeleteDaisy is a little picture of you. The picture almost looks like its heavenly, with the sun shining in, on the wooden floors. She will one day be a sweet little mamma....
ReplyDeleteThe floor mopping idea sounds great, Ill have to try it. Happy Cleaning! Christina
What a great idea! I'm pretty attached to my apple-scented Lysol, but I might try this for a general household cleaner.
ReplyDeleteAnd wherever did you get that adorable little mop for Daisy?? My two little girls would just about kill for one of those!
My first comment to your lovely blog spot:
ReplyDeleteThis is a new idea for me, Anna! Somehow you've compelled me to WANT to mop today. ;)
I only have tea tree on the shelf; so tea tree it is!
Rhonda
My three year old and I are looking at this picture together...she loves to help too. Where did you find this childsize mop?
ReplyDeleteThe lighting is this picture is beautiful too.
Thanks for the idea.
Daisy's mop came from Toys-R-Us before Christmas. I would love to find a tiny broom and dustpan as well. She takes it all so seriously, and loves that the mop really gets wet and must be squeezed out.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter told me about this post of yours - buying some today so my house smells wonderful all weekend long. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI also really like the picture of your little one. It is such a good photo. I like the idea of using peppermint oil, but must ask where you get yours. I've seen oils at places like Michaels and Target (I think) and wonder if they are strong enough to last. What other uses would you have for essential oils? Thank you.
