My little elephant family is complete--mother and three babies. But as everyone knows, the little male elephants are forced to leave the herd when they reach a certain age . . .
. . . so this little elephant will be going to a new home. He's made from genuine vintage fabric--my mother's dress in junior high in the fifties--with a braided cotton tail and a beady eye. If you'd like to have your name in the hat for a giveaway next Friday at noon central time, why then just leave your name in the comments!
My goodness, am I first?! I would love a little elephant friend around our house. :)
ReplyDeleteI find your blog to be quite an inspriation and your elephants are so adorable. When I first saw you post about them I immediately looked up the book at Amazon.com.
ReplyDeleteMy sewing skills leave much to desired, but you have inspired me to pursue them further. I even followed you link to the vintage patterns on Ebay and won a pack of 1950's dress and skirt patterns. I am looking forward to tweaking my skills with these, and hopefully getting something at least half as wearable as you lovely housedresses. Thanks for the inspiration!
How very cute! Your projects really inspire me to get out the sewing kit!
ReplyDeleteLisa
Your elephants are very quaint and I admire your creativity! I was also wondering, being a mom to tiels, how your son's cockatiel is doing? Is that ok to ask? Also if I may did your son build the bird gym stand for his bird also?
ReplyDeleteAnna
I would love to be added to your drawing....this little guy is too cute for words!

I am a bit frightened of the reaction to this contest. Mass chaos as the crowds rush toward the comments section...destruction and ruin all that is left behind.
ReplyDeleteI had never EVER seen so many comments on a blog post as I did for the last contest give away you had.
I know my chances are well...like 1 in 500 but I am gonna give it a whirl anyway. Because my "Panda" would love an elephant...and because it gives me an excuse to tell you I appreciate your blog ONE MORE TIME! ;-)
Oh yay!! Count me in! (o: I just love the fabric.
ReplyDeleteThat elephant would love his new home here.
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented and I'm always drawn to your blog both to see your new creations and the stunning photographs.

ReplyDeleteMy mousing hand is getting tired from scrolling through to the bottom of these comments but please put my name in, too! I've always loved blues and greens together and have been noticing them more and more lately. And yet, your fabric is from the 50s. Maybe, blue + green is making a comeback.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna,
ReplyDeleteI would like to be in your drawing for the elephant! How neat that you would be so generous!
Blessings,
Deana
I used to have an elephant in very similar fabric when i was a little girl. I actually hunted for it at my Mum's last weekend but no luck. Please put me in the draw for this little one.
ReplyDeleteThere are three little girls in my house to love your little elephant.
ReplyDeleteIf we win the drawing, we'll welcome a little Southern charm into our home.
Love to you and yours...
Laura
Any hope for a UK reader?!
ReplyDeleteLove to visit and compare your lifestyle, very similar to mine, although I reside in the beautiful lush county of Dorset comprising forests, verdant farmland and beautiful soft sandy beaches.
I also homeschool my children, which raises eyebrows here - not as common as in the USA!
We have chickens, pigs and an increasing rabbit population (I hasten to add that they are pets) and grow most of our own fruit and veg.
I grew up in a very industrial and deprived part of the UK, in a small terraced house with tiny garden (yard) so I now say thank you, thank you every single day...and finding blogs like yours are the icing on the cake.
Regards, Marina
