Lately my thrift stores have been presenting me with such irresistable yellow--and I don't even do yellow! So I've decided to develop an alternate Camping Personality, one that does do yellow. This allows me to collect such beauties as this Club Cookware and the dead stock vinyl tablecloths it's sitting on. Because I'm going to take them camping.
And when we're camping or even picnicking, we're going to do it on these assorted plates. Everyone's going to be dining on sunflower yellow and bright green. It's going to be great!
The yellow daisy plates are so cute!! Since the yellow seems to be finding you you could do the Sweet Goodness Summer Swap-Summer theme in colors of orange and yellow. Should be fun!! Elise
ReplyDeleteSo vintage! I was married in the late 70's...and those colors were the "in" colors to have and I did, indeed, have a set of pots & pans as well as dishes very similar to these. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog...I've been reading you for several months and now I'm finally coming out of lurkdom to make a comment.
I am such a yellow lover, this is sooooo beautiful to me!!! Yell my way if you ever decide to sell! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
I'm not usually keen on yellow either, but some shy yellow petunias with the most delicate lacy cream ruffled edge called my name at the nursery and I've decided I just have to go back and get them - they'll go so nicely with the robin's egg blue, sage and soft yellow floral covers I am making for our patio cushions! It must be a happy yellow spring! I'm stepping out of my rut, and liking it!
ReplyDeleteI grew up eating dinner on the set represented by your salad plate. I must say it looks much better through the eyes of nostalgia than it did back then. Thanks for the memory tickle.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the yellow finds. And I just might have to develop and alter ego as well so that I can collect red. I like it, but I just can't do red all the time. But camping...oh, yes!
ReplyDeleteI also grew up eating off the yellow and green plates, until we moved into the mid '80s, and my mom bought mauve and blue ones, lol!
ReplyDeleteInteresting to me was that my mother has a set of plates that have either exactly the same or so similar a pattern to the salad plate that I can't tell any difference. Hers are in different shades of brown, and yes she got them a long time ago (late 70s early 80s) In Australia.
ReplyDeleteWe kept those for 'company' or special occasion though, rarely ever using them.
My grandmother still has and uses daily the plates like your salad plate.
ReplyDeleteI am like you. Not much on yellow but find myself drawn to it in small amounts.
My granny has the salad plate set. I ate off of them all the time growing up. I always loved them.
ReplyDeleteI have a yellow persona in that my great room and kitchen are both painted bright sunshine yellow! LOL
I had this dinnerware when I was first married, given to me as a gift. I used it up and wore it out, to the very last piece!
ReplyDeleteCamping in style - how do you do it? I would love to go camping but hardly know where to start. My children are 7,5 & 3 and if we keep saying we will go when the children are old enough we will never go. Can you give some tips.
ReplyDeleteThose stoneware plates with daisies were the very plates that we used from the mid-70's until the early 90's. My Mom and I both had the same set, between us we had enough to serve about 30 people. They were premiums from the grocery store. We also had most of the completer pieces. Such fond memories your post evoked! I agree with Sherri, the eyes of nostalgia make them look sweeter.
ReplyDeleteThese were the pots my mom had when I was growing up. Only one of them remains.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use them while camping!
I actually still use a set of Club Aluminum pots just like that, except beige. I got them when DH and I got married in 1981. I hated the fry pan that came with it, tho. About 5 years ago, a old friend gave me a yellow saucepan that is between my two biggest pots--I felt my set was complete after that!! I really don't anticipating changing...they are great pots.
