A pleasant hour this afternoon baking tomorrow's pies. Quick and easy because . . .
the crusts were made yesterday, and were chilling in disks in the fridge, waiting to be rolled out.
And because the recipe is an old friend . . .
and because Clara, Bella, and Felix prepped all twelve cups of apples for me in a flash . . .
. . . while off-camera, Giles and Daisy whipped up the filling for two pumpkin pies. Oh, these days of plenty of help. I am feeling thankful.
I recognize the cookbook... Betty Crocker. The best pie crust recipe ever!
ReplyDeleteApple pie would be my choice, too (over pumpkin). Your pies look delicious! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Anna.
ReplyDeleteA Blessed Thanksgiving to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI see my mother was the first to notice (Sabine). I learned to cook from that book and pounced on a copy in a used book store soon after I was married. It's always been my favourite book!
ReplyDeleteI too am thankful for the help! My 9 year old mashed, then whipped the poatoes with the mixer. Of course, they were yummy with a dash of garlic & some dollops of cream cheese. Happy Thanksgiving. Oh, enjoyed your "cowkid" bib. Cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's the very same recipe I always use for our apple and blueberry pies! How fun! So easy and yummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! Happy Thanksgiving ;o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...and an even more beautiful time baking with your children, I'm sure! Hope that you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving. :o)
