Vintage Christmas Charm
A quick run through the antique mall this weekend, and I found these, *way* too sweet and cheap to pass up:

Oh Anna - they are quite the find! I love vintage ornaments! We inherited a *bunch* of lovely shabby delicate glass ornaments and I think this year they will be *safe* enough to actually take out of their boxes and use! Our youngest is 7 now, and while still prone to sudden bursts of whirling and twirling, he is more within bounds and readily stoppable when he knows he is about to trod on something precious to me. He has had to kiss away quite a few 'I'm sorry I broke your lovely .... Momma' tears over the years! I'm thinking my tiny works of art might find a home in a vintage apothocary jar if I am able to score one!

ReplyDeleteThis weekend at the thrift store I also picked up a pack of the old Shiny Brites...they are bright pink and there are 12 of them. None were broken!
I love my vintage ornaments in all thier chipped metallic splendor! They were my Nana's so all the more special. I even have her old silver tree with the rotating light but haven't put that up

ReplyDeleteHave you seen the latest cover of Blueprint? It is vintage-y pink and gold! I was instantly drawn to gazing upon that photo after doing a room in chocolate brown and blue, and a wedding in chocolate and red, and a wedding featuring rusted metal and oil-rubbed bronze. SO TIRED of dark tones!!!

ReplyDeleteAhh, memories. We used the Christmas lights from my dad's childhood when I was growing up. The electrical end was a bit scary, but the bulbs were so beautiful and thick and swirly. They seem to never burn out. What a great find!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! And this on top of my father's finding a record we'd been questing after on Ebay, only yesterday. (It's a Time-Life Christmas album that must date from 1963 because he said he was 11 when my grandparents first got it. It's our quintessential album but long-lost apart from the cassette copy....)

ReplyDeleteWhen I was first married, my grandmother gave me some older Christmas ornaments that my Great Aunt made years ago. I tucked them away in a storage bin and thought I'd never use them. Alas, the older I get, the more "into" the vintage I become. They are now my favorite ornaments. Your finds are lovely.
