We did a tiny road trip today to Tiny Town, since we all felt due for a visit. Giles drove us up after his last class, and our first stop was the warm and cozy barbeque shack. Then over to the antique mall. Yes! to the set of Pyrex bowls for $36. You can see I got the three largest and no small blue one. I did see a complete set--for $100.
I have several of these bowls and use them all the time, so am very happy to have some backups. They're sturdy but as much as we use them they aren't going to last forever.
And even though I already had a vintage Christmas apron to wear for today's cookie session:
I didn't hesitate to pick up two more at $2 a piece--now the girls and I can match while we bake!
A lovely stop at Farmgirl Jody's house, a visit with her goats and ponies and a cup of coffee, then back home.
I used to have that complete set of Pyrex bowls. Must look for them again. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom used to have the yellow one. It was our popcorn bowl 'til I dropped it while washing dishes. I felt worse than she did! I passed up a little tiny glass vintage Pyrex storage container my last trip to the thrift store (dumb, dumb!). I've regretted it ever since because how cute would it have been holding sewing things in my future sewing room?
ReplyDeleteGreat find on the bowls and aprons. I just finished making six aprons for my girls and me, (and smocks for the four grandbabies) so we will start our own tradition with this year's baking.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Pyrex bowls and matching aprons? Wow, blessed you are!

I have an apron from my husband's grandmother which looks exactly like one of your thrift store finds. The four of us (my 3 girls and I) have to take turns wearing it. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you found all but the blue one . . . I found the blue one alone a few weeks ago. Must hunt the rest!
ReplyDeleteThe yellow one is my popcorn bowl too! I have an aqua bowl and a set of pink rectangle container too. They are all from my mom. I've also picked up couple more pyrex casserole dishes at thrift stores. I love my pyrex!
ReplyDeleteDon't you think those bowls are the best because they have nice steep sides for hand-mixers? And the sides make them better for storing things in the fridge. Because they're pretty you can even use them for serving dishes in a pinch. I love them.
ReplyDeleteMajor scores!
ReplyDeleteI love vintage aprons, Christmas and otherwise. This time of year, we keep a couple of Christmas ones hanging on the pantry door handles to inspire spontaneous baking!
sigh....I had the complete set with the small one AND the refrigerator set that matched. But sometime before children decided that I didn't need it and gave it to Goodwill. Did I mention I got it at a yard sale for like $5. Oh the agony...
