Third and last college tour completed by Giles and the Composer. This last trip was to Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.
Even excluding the fries, there was a lot to like at this school.
Natural beauty, an intensive and rigorous course of photographic study.
However, Giles found that Brooks lacked the sense of community he is looking for in a school for now . . .
and has decided to go to: Savannah!
Good choice! SCAD is awesome, and Savannah is such a great city! He'll love it!
ReplyDeleteThat's exciting! SCAD is getting a good thing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great school and a great city--very exciting!
ReplyDeleteWe used to live in SB. Gorgeous area, though I know nothing of the school.
ReplyDeleteThat is great! I live about an hour from there, and have many friends and acquaintances in Savannah. I am happy to get him connected with the RUF (reformed university fellowship) group, if that is something you are interested in.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have wanted to "talk" to you...I have a question. Would you mind emailing me your email address, if you have the time? Thanks, Anna!
Congratulations Giles and family! That is so exciting. I so enjoy the photos on this blog. Thank you, Anna, for sharing your delightful life.

Hooray! There's so much to photograph everywhere, of course, but Savannah will be rich with possibilities.
ReplyDeleteHello, I love your blog and I don't think I have ever commented to tell you that :-)
ReplyDeleteGiles photography continually amazes my family and I, and I can't wait to see his future work. I'm glad he was able to swing into the Habit while he was in CA. They have some of the best burgers!
*sigh* Ah! I'm so relieved for you!
ReplyDeleteAs I looked at the post, my spirit sank. My in-laws live in Santa Barbara so we have visited dozens of times in our 20 years of marriage.
It is arguably the most beautiful suburb in the country! And IT IS GOMORRAH! The level of new age antagonism to Christianity is palpable there.
Glad he happy to visit, but doesn't want to live there. ;)
Congrats to Giles, and I'm very happy that a Southern boy is staying in the South. Savannah will be lucky to have him.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you that Savannah is the friendliest town I have ever visited. Standing on the corner just looking at street signs or reading a map will get you any number of residents stopping to offer help with directions.
ReplyDeleteHe will love the town, the weather, and the school is top notch!!
Good luck to him in all his studies!!
My neice is at SCAD. I am so excited for your son. Getting a decision was such a relief for my daughter and her freinds. Best wishes Giles. Oh and welcome to Georgia.
ReplyDeleteI would have chosen SCAD too. Way too gorgeous. Plenty of opportunity for photos. Good luck at school!
ReplyDeleteAnna I have been reading for quite some time. We are about 1 1/2 hours from Savannah, and would love to minister to your family in any way we can. We are also evangelical christians, with and empty nest, looking for opportunities that the Lord would open to us.

HORRAY!!!! He'll love it! My nephew went there and then on to New York. I also just had a friend return from Savannah and she was raving about SCAD.
ReplyDeleteBig plus for you?? He'll be close??? :-)
Congrats to Giles! Wishing him all the best in his studies. Hard to pass up warm temps and beaches at a young age, but he's done well. Can't wait to see what's in store for him there.
ReplyDeleteAnswered prayer. <><
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a wise decision being made. :o)
Hi Anna;
ReplyDeleteCongrat to Giles...Savannah is a wonderful city, full of history and I am sure Giles will find loads of great things to 'snap.' (well, in his free moments)
Are you okay...I am sure you will miss him badly!
cheers!

A very good choice!
ReplyDeleteWhile Santa Barbara has a lovely coast line, I can tell you, after living here for 5 years, it's not a place I'd recommend to anyone with a good heart.
I hope he will enjoy Savannah!
Woot, my pastor just came from being a college minister there with RUF (reformed univerisity fellowship).
