Oh, the wisteria is in full bloom! The arbor is a mass of bee activity and the fragrance is incredible.
The girls and I are running our 5K race in the morning, which has nothing to do with wisteria, but is on my mind at the moment. We've been "training" off and on since January, and hope to complete it smiling. Giles, who qualifies as an "elite runner", has much higher hopes for himself.
Added on Saturday: Giles ran a 22:30, I ran (slowly!) the whole way without walking and came in at 34:30, and Clara and Bella finished at 36:30. We are all feeling proud!
Oh, it's so beautiful! I've always wanted to plant wisteria ever since I read The Enchanted April: "To Those Who Appreciate Wistaria and Sunshine. Small mediaeval Italian Castle on the shores of the Mediterranean to be Let furnished for the month of April. Necessary servants remain."
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your run tomorrow! I just completed my first 5K three weeks ago, and am running in the Earth Day 5K in Savannah in the morning. Just a warning: these races are addictive! :)
ReplyDeleteYour wisteria is simply beautiful! Someday I hope to have an arbor with wisteria on it. :)
ReplyDeleteAh! I love wisteria-it is my very favorite site of Spring. The best to you on the 5K-I just started training for one myself. I never thought I would enjoy it-but I am. We are due for a snowstorm this weekend-I guess that's Spring in Montana. LOL
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the run! My husband is also an elite and is in training to win a few summertime and fall 5ks here. I'm of the 'I'll run what I run' variety.
ReplyDeleteYour wisteria is great. I was raised to consider it a pesky vine (clogging up my grandmother's azaleas in her massive garden in Charleston) but hanging on your arbor I see it in a new light!!
Jealous - but thankful that you posted the pic for the rest of us to see. Everything is still brown and dead around here.
ReplyDeleteI love wisteria! And my kids are adopting my enthusiasm. :^)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, I can almost smell it here in Ireland!
ReplyDeleteRuth
I planted some wisteria last year, hope it blooms this year!
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your run...what a nice family activity!

Jealous. we can't grow it like that in Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteOh Anna, how beautiful! As we were house-hunting recently, we visited a house with a wisteria-covered arbor over the front gate, and a little sitting area built right in--one seat and a tiny ledge(for lemonade, or sweet tea?) on each side of the gate, facing each other. Completely charming.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and the girls with your race today, what a neat interest for you ladies to share.
I've been secretly hoping that one day I'll come to visit and find that you've put up a link to a slideshow of your beautiful family and home... more fun than any generic screen saver!(My little Sophie will occasionally request that I put up Little Jenny Wren's slideshow of dollies ;) ) Might there be something in the works?

Mmmm, our wisteria is beautiful and healthy and makes a little cavern over it's pole but it never blooms! Good luck on the race!

Well, it took over a week's worth of stolen internet moments, but I've read your blog from start to finish (okay, so I read the most recent month and figured it'd make more sense if I started from the beginning, and I may have skipped a few here and there, but it was a generally chronological reading!); it's absolutely charming! Thank you, it was a real blessing to read.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations on the 5K, I've been working up toward one myself, so it's wonderful to hear yours went so well!
I was wondering how the 5K went, thanks for the update and congratulations on your achievement!
