Remember
this project? I started it in January and knitted hard through the first part of the winter, much of it while caring for my grandmother.
After her death I put it away for a while, but I pulled it back out and finished it just in time for fall.
The pattern calls for embroidered embellishments, and I've tried three different colorways and textures, but find that I like it best without. The lovely dimensional texture is all the interest the sweater needs.
This is beautiful! What a lovely color on you and for fall--my favorite season!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I've been picking up my knitting lately, too. Who can knit in July and August?
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful sweater, Anna. The color is also gorgeous and you look great in it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color for you! I agree about the embroidery!
ReplyDeleteI'm hosting a party tomorrow night for my 45th birthday. Work has been hectic so the housework has slipped a little. (Well... more than a little...)
ReplyDeleteJust thought I's let you know that tomorrow morning I'll be 'channelling Anna'. You always make your house look so lovely and inviting, so tomorrow on the other side of the world I'll be doing my best to do the same. :)
You look delightful! Definitely a wonderful color for you.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty:)! I haven't tackled a sweater yet.
ReplyDeleteLizzie
A picture of you, Anna! I believe this is a first. We've seen shots of you, but never a full front photo. I must say you are lovely! That color of green goes very nicely on you. And finally, your sweater is certainly a work of art. I can only imagine how much hard work it was to complete. Bobbles are hard work.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in its simplicity. No need for embellishment. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you were going to show it! Very pretty, Anna.
ReplyDeleteI'm still intimidated by such a big project.
gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelove the haircut, and oh my, that sweater is gorgeous! I am in love with the color, and the texture. Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteChristina
Love it! I also love your haircut:)
ReplyDeleteRenee
awesome!
ReplyDeleteI was knitting away last evening as we watched tv (socks - a first for me) and wondered if you had any knitting projects going.
ReplyDeleteI love the sweater and the color. I've knitted lots of sweaters but never have made a pattern with bobbles. I like it!
What a BEAUTIFUL sweater!! I am amazed that you have it done so quickly, I would still be working on that one for some time. :) Thank you for your daily postings, they are always enjoyable to look at each day....and I love how your mother is setting your children up with dishes and teapots!!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater is beautiful. Good decision to forgo the embroidery. Lovely color, too.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Both the sweater and the model. The color of the sweater is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSusan
LOVE that sweater! My sister is quite the knitter. The only thing I can knit is my round dishcloth, which I insist on using, though it takes every ounce of concentration to actually knit it!
ReplyDeleteSally
Lovely! I am just learning to knit, maybe one day I will make a beautiful sweater like that!
ReplyDeleteThat is very pretty! The color is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and is very striking against your skin color.
ReplyDeleteAnna!!! You have done it again..What can you not
ReplyDeletedo? Beautiful sweater and was nice to see a full
photo of the person who runs this schoolhouse
family..And BTW Daisy looks just like you.
Thanks for motivating me again.
Ms. Dale
Ok, I for one think you are so amazing and talented. How do you get it all done?? I like to think I'm busy most of the day but I never yeild as much as you do. Would you mind sharing you secrets for a productive day?
ReplyDeleteKim
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful! Sweaters are one of my favorite things about Fall!
ReplyDeleteLovely color, lovely job, lovely pattern, lovely lady!
ReplyDeleteYou did a very fine job on this sweater. Many things I have knit, over the years, are souvenirs of my time....places I visited, season of the year, who I was with. I pray that when you wear this sweater you will have good memories of your grandmother.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
The color is fabulous!! Good job!
ReplyDeleteYou are beautiful and so is the sweater! You are right that it has all it needs in the pattern itself.
ReplyDeleteLynn
I was just wondering about this sweater the other day. I'm glad you finished it and it is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe forest green on your knit is amazing. I have to add that the style in which you knitted your sweater is absolutely classic. It's almost fall and the perfect time to finish!
ReplyDeleteAnna,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you can help me or if anyone else out there can. I am working on a sweater(my 2nd knitting project). I have the correct size yarn and the correct size needle, but I am coming up 3 inches short on the width of the front of the sweater.(that is all I have done so far.) I talked to a friend and she thought maybe the pattern gave the wrong needle size. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Amy F.
Amy, perhaps you didn't knit up a swatch to check the gauge. - ? It's important.
