One last family get-together to celebrate the end of summer.
And to celebrate the newly-stained deck, accomplished by the sweat of the combined brows of Giles and the Composer.
We gathered in all the family we could, and got to meet the new step-daughters after the surprise wedding of my youngest brother last month . . . very sweet girls, and just the right ages to play princess Polly Pocket dolls with Daisy.
The pool has cooled off but that doesn't stop the most dedicated swimmers, or my father-in-law, who showed off his Olympic-inspired back flip dive.
The rain sets in tomorrow, and autumn follows soon after. A lovely summer, and a lovely Labor Day.
No, no, Anna - summer isn't over yet - it musn't be!
ReplyDeleteour summer ends next weekend with my daughter's swimming party - 5 years old! Hopefully the rain will hold off.
ReplyDeleteWell, we have lots of beauty and Autumn wonder to look forward to. It has been a good summer! And so the race to prepare for the Holidays begins.
ReplyDeleteIt seems funny for you to be talking about autumn when we are heading into spring over here in Australia. The blossoms on the fruit tree are shyly coming out and the sun has some warmth in it - at last. Enjoy the last of summer and its pleasures.
ReplyDeleteWarmly, Mrs M.
I love the color you used on your deck. We'd like to stain our "dream barn house" that color some day. What color is that?
ReplyDeletesummer seems to never end in the sunshine state....we'll enjoy "autumn" through pics!!
ReplyDeleteWhen will your son start college? I was wondering which one he chose?
ReplyDeleteFall will begin Sept.21 I am ready for some cool weather.
The white flowers in the one photo. . . what are they? I noticed a single one sprouting up in my old herb garden last week, and I couldn't identify it.
ReplyDeleteI love this waning Summer time of year. Something about the air of it is so relaxing, mellow despite being a time when everything else seems to be picking up speed.
A lovely way to end the season Anna.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are gorgous. I love the lawnmower one.
ReplyDeletespumommy: We used Olympic Wood Protector (semi-tranparent stain) tinted with 725 - Dark Oak.
