Camellia Bud

Amazing that these fragile beauties wait until cold weather to appear.

I've been *loving* my hours in the garden this week. Every day I stop after sixty minutes of digging so I don't absolutely cripple myself with lower back pain, but I can't wait for the next session. The turning maples, the smoky sky, the mild air, the Bermuda roots coming out of the damp ground so easily . . . .

  1. You are so wise to stop after sixty minutes! I was marathon gardening this afternoon, just trying to get the garden to bed for the winter and pull the last of the weeds, but I was at it for far too long an now a happy afternoon has turned into a 'time for a very hot bath' kind of evening! I'm glad your weeds are coming up with ease ... that's a blessing for sure and certain!

  2. What a beautiful photograph and a well-appointed phrase. . .just goes to show that, if we look carefully and prayerfully, there's beauty and joy even in the midst of a seemingly barren and cold season of life! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Just exquisite! It is the perfect weather for gardening. You are wise to stop after sixty minutes. I always think I will, but then I push along and end up absolutely crippled the next day! Growing old is not easy :-)

  5. Since I am writing from a warmer climate I will enjoy cold weather vicariously through your post! I don't know if the trees in southeast Texas will ever show their fall colors. Thanks for the beautiful images and the inspiration your entire blog gives!

  6. Oh, I miss camelias. It's harder to find winter gems, although I am sure they're there, out here in CO. What kind of camera do you use? Your pictures are so sharp and clear!

  8. I miss having my big gardens back in Texas. If you get a chance, check out my blog to how you inspired me. I dug out an old pattern I had stashed and made my daughter's costume. Thanks for the lovely blog and pretty clothing to see. God bless you and your family.

  9. This is my first visit to your blog and I am enjoying it. And I can certainly understand the joy of Bermuda coming up easily!!! It is the bain of my garden! I have not gardened in months, however, as I am 3 weeks from my due date for my 3rd child. I miss it terribly, so I am enjoying it through blogs instead. :)

  10. A woman after my own heart! I love my time in the garden. I, too, have to make myself stop and then hope my back holds out for the next day. I also have camelias opening. They are beautiful.
