Plain pink cotton sweater from the thrift store made much more fun by:
• cutting off the ribbed waistband, and so losing the unflattering blousing affect above the waist
• cutting the sleeves to 3/4 length--my favorite!--and stretching the raw edges as I zigzagged them to get a ripple finish
• cutting off the front button bands and tying the front corners at the waist.
All the cut edges were finished by a straight line of stitching 1/4 inch in from the raw edge, then a zigzag over the raw edge.
Pink and Green are one of my favorite color combinations! You look ready for spring!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Excellent!! I also love 3/4 sleeves.
ReplyDeleteWoW!!! That really POPS!!!! I love it! 3/4 sleeves are my favorite too....I wonder why? Guess I feel more covered up, but also not so confined in a blouse??
ReplyDeleteGreat creativity there Anna.
Cheryl :-)
P.S. Just saw the picture of the quilt for Daisy....how beautiful. How do you do all that and so fast????
You've done a great job. Now it makes me rethink some of the items that I've gotten rid of that I might could have revamped. Thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteAah! You've combined those colors perfectly! Hot pink and lime green says "Spring" beautifully! You made that sweater really pop!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteWow, now that is re-invention. Love it! You are so creative.
ReplyDeleteOh I really like it, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Especially with the J Peterman dress. I've got the exact same one....so spring!
ReplyDeleteThe green and pink are a lovely combination, you are ready for the rosebuds and delicate new leaves unfolding all around, joining joyfully with them.
ReplyDeleteI shall look at the thrifting clothes with an eye for the possibilities of what 'could be,' instead of just 'what is.'
Cute! And wonderfully preppy in the pink/green!
ReplyDeleteAnna you must add "Fashion Designer" to the tag under your blog name!
ReplyDeleteIn Christ,
Dawn
great idea! I've been watching angry chicken do some things like that too. So inspiring
ReplyDeleteI was noticing the beautiful green dress too - Polly says it's a J Peterman dress. I never heard of him/their stuff so I went and looked online. I'd be curious to hear more about it!
So clever! I love your color combinations. :)
ReplyDeleteMargo, J Peterman's clothes are lots of fun--this green dress, if I'm not mistaken (Anna, correct me if I am!!) is the 1947 short sleeved dress. I've got the exact same one and I adore, adore, adore it. Bought it on ebay brand new for a song. It's the perfect housedress--crisp, with pockets, motivating! :)
ReplyDeleteThe J Peterman catalog is also just a wonderful read.
Very inspiring. :)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully creative! Your blog is always enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree, 3/4 length sleeves are delightful...my wedding dress had them! Square collars come in a tie with the sleeves in my ranking. :-)
Your blog helps to remind me that there will come a time when all my kids won't be 5 and under and we'll get to do these kinds of things together. :-)
Thank You!

I love this idea! I've got a thrifted sweater I've been saving for a special makeover. This is it!
ReplyDeleteBtw- I just found your blog today, and I'm so happy I did. It's lovely. You're photography is phenomenal. :)
Casey
(ps - I was homeschooled and loved it!)
Wonderful idea! I think I'll utilize it right away on an ugly sweater I thought was hopeless. :)
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us more about your dress? I hope you made it cause I want to know what pattern you used so I can make one ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the pink and green combo
