Well, I started cutting some of my mother's old blouses today, but a couple were more worn than I'd supposed - this is going to take a while. It's a tedious business that you manage to give an aura of romance to! :)
Lisa, I agree that the cutting is the most tedious--I do it all with scissors, though my sweet neighbor has offered the loan of her rotary cutter. Just haven't gotten organized and gotten it. For my last top I cut 1080 squares, mostly in one day! The children all helped me piece it and we did it in about an hour. The fabric was flying, believe me!
Anna, thank you for the extra info - I was looking at my little squares, thinking "how am I going to know how many to cut?" - now I have some notion of it! LOL! I'll keep pluggin' away.
Your quilts are amazing! I can't believe how fast you finish them and how well they are designed! Very inspiring! What kind of quilt batting do you use?
A few more questions. What size are your quilt squares and how big is your finished quilt? twin size? I'm very inspired and am planning on making one! :)

ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the tiny squares my mother use to quilt. It was so much work in the old days when the stitching was all done by hand.
