Praise God! I've been trying to leave comments for some time but have forgotten my password! Very frustrating! I have discovered I don't need to remember my password if I click on anonymous!
Love the (short-lived) victory dance on the wall. And what is so strange is that I have a picture of a woman with both arms raised in my utility room. I will look at it quite differently now. I'll have to show you too.
A very good feeling - albeit shortlived usually... laundry never ends. And then you have to fold it, iron it, put it away. It's usually a week long project around here.
Yes - ironing is a big part of my life - almost all most clothes are cotton! I love cotton! So I have to enjoy ironing. Which reminds me that I can expect a pretty new Laura Ashley ironing board cover to arrive in the mail soon!
In the previous months as I was not feeling well I relied primarily on Downy Wrinkle Release. My husband now prefers that to my ironing for it smells so nice!
Yikes, the bad thing about reading this post is that I have 7 of my husband's shirts that I'm supposed to be ironing RIGHT NOW, and I'm procrastinating by reading a few beautiful blogs. How ironic is that. Okay, okay, I'm going.
Ironing is the bane of my homemaking existence. Truly, there is not a household chore I despise more than ironing. Funny thing is that it's my Mom's favorite chore :o) aaaah, recessive genes.
Good for you - it does feel good to be ride of the ironing pile! Mount Ironmore is rising daily and accusing me of gross negligence! I long to be caught up, but outdoor pursuits are much too delightful!
i hate to admit this, but i...uh...just don't iron :) neither does my wife. we grab things out of the dryer or on occasion use dry cleaning, but the more bad stuff we read about the chemicals used in dry cleaning, the more inclined we are to whip out the iron if something needs fixing. i try to buy fabrics that are wrinkle free or always hang my pants up instead of letting them lay around, and i try to wear golf shirts during the summer, etc., to eliminate the need to iron as much as possible. but sometimes it's tough!!!
I truly love to iron ! My grandmother was an ironess--it brought in enough money to struggle through. My mother liked to iron too, and I have nice memories of hearing the creaky board opening in the kitchen and an old fashioned shiney silver iron with a blue fabric cord. I iron sheets and pillow cases, napkins and placemats, and everything in between. I listen to opera music while I iron ! My children now say they like the "steam sound" of the iron and it makes them feel comforted !
Is the drawing in the background a woman hanging things on a clothesline or raising her arms up in the air for joy... because she finished ironing? :)
ReplyDeleteYes...an empty laundry basket is the best!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI love to iron - there is nothing like the smell of freshly ironed cotton or linen.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture!! Yes, I do a victory dance when the ironing pile is vanquished...about every 3 years or so.

It is absolutely a wonderful feeling! And I actually like ironing - just not when the pile gets too huge:-)

ReplyDeleteIndeed it is, but I'm one of those strange creatures who actually enjoys ironing. The smell of it has always seemed soothing to me.

ReplyDeleteIn my house, there just never seems to be an end.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could get the hubby and teenager to do some ironing.
