I've never seen a bed jacket pattern cover I didn't like. These ladies know all about looking glamorous while lounging! Here I aimed more for cheer than for glamour (witness the bright bright plaid).
In love with ruffling right this minute! I used the ancient ruffling foot from an old box of Singer attachments (went right on my Brother) and set it to pleat. It is so much fun! I plan to put pleated ruffles on absolutely everything from here on.
This is in the shop for anyone who wants to be cozy. Yes, I'm thinking of you!
Why these aren't in style anymore is beyond me! How many times have I sat up in bed trying to read during the colder months while trying to drape, wrap, finagle a blanket around me to keep warm. These are simply brilliant! And yours is adorable.

ReplyDeleteThat's charming! And it looks like flannel - nice and cozy. But the ruffler - I have an old one, too - I keep eyeing it with trepidation. How do you know, if you have a length of something you want to gather/pleat, how to get it to evenly do it, so it's the same length as the piece you're attaching it to when you get done?

I love vintage patterns and am almost envious of your lovely collection. Now I have to figure out if I have or can get a ruffle attachment for my Singer.

It's adorable. I'm also a christian homeschooling mom who hopped over from my sister's blog, old centennial farmhouse. I stay home and sew and do other projects while my husband is gone often and my daughter does her school work. People call me a hermit because I'm so content to stay home. Anywhoo, what does a "ruffling foot" look like? I have some ancient Singer attachments that I could probably use on my newer Singer, but I don't know what this particular foot attachment looks like? Could you picture it on your blog?
ReplyDeleteHow well I remember bed jackets. My grandmother had a very dainty one to wear if she had to enter the hospital, as did most of the ladies back then. So sensible. The lady was modestly covered and even fashionable but she didn't have to wrestle with a full housecoat under the hospital blankets. As Sonja said, brilliant!
