Continuing to enjoy these new colors so much--the ochre of the oak leaves outside, the lilac orchids, and the all-mediating warm gray walls.
A lady has promised to make the canvas slipcovers for my couch and chair, but not til Thanksgiving break. I won't feel finished with this room until they are done.
I started painting our living room this week - it's aggravating and wondrous at the same time. One wall almost done, but it looks so different already. I don't know how long it will take to all come together - I hope it'll be nice!
ReplyDeleteWhat a picture perfect photo!
ReplyDeleteLisa, what color are you using?
ReplyDeleteWould you mind sharing the name/make of the paint color on that wall? It is so beautiful. I also remember your mango-colored wall and would love that color name as well, if you don't mind? I'm hoping to make some changes and am always looking for inspiration and "tried and true" colors before stepping up to the thousands of paint chips all lined up at the paint store.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
K
Oh, I forgot to share a color chip "find"! My mother painted her entire lower floor the most beautiful and intriguing color, and convinced me with the first sight of it. It is by Valspar and is called, "Churchill Hotel Hazy Yellow". The interesting thing is that it looks like the perfect creamy, buff, light yellow ochre, however it is not "yellowy". Probably the most interesting color I have seen. It looks beautiful in all forms of light adn with all her colors. It's in their "historic" color collection. Gorgeous!

Beautiful! Love the colors!
ReplyDeleteAnna, we have B. Moore's Natura paint - the non-VOC stuff - and I've got Hay Stack - such a buttery, buttery color - just delightful! I'm painting over a dark, unpleasant panelling, so.... 3 coats of primer, and it may even need 3 coats of paint! This is on 3 walls, and when we remove the peeling paper on the 4th wall, that's going to be a nice light, warmish blue called Fresh Water.
ReplyDeleteThere's a cutout between the kitchen & living rm, which shows the wallpaper - pink & blue on cream, which we're keeping - so I thought we'd have to do beige or whitish to avoid too many colors but then I suddenly thought of a soft yellow as a possibility. My intent is a red, white and blue scheme, with yellow. I think it will be nice. The texture from the grooves in the panelling is very appealing, and reminds me of a cottage at the beach or something.
Lisa--Hang in there! I have never been more astonished at the changes paint can make than when I walked into my friend's formerly-dark-wood-paneled family room, which she painted a pale cream. Astounding and so beautiful--and as you mentioned, it really lends a cottage-y look to the whole place.
ReplyDelete2 months ago I painted my kitchen cabinets (formerly oak, now white). It was torture, esp w/ a 2 year old running around, but it was so worth it! I love them now.
Great photograph! It really captures the feel of the room, and the light is wonderful. I especially like the way the light is coming from the window to the right, and illuminating the gray of the wall, and the trim. And, as always, your styling is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Polly, for the encouragement. I have next week off from work, so I'll be painting the whole time I think!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I forgot to say how pretty Anna's room looks!
Which room is this again?
ReplyDeleteI love your flowers! But, are they very hard to grow? They look happy at your house. I would like some for me!
