I am really trying hard not to bring new fabric home, but some did find its way into my suitcase in New York. And Pennsylvania. Apparently my subconscious had issued orders in a brown/gray/orange palette that I had not heard about before, but what can you do?
This beautiful gray print was my one purchase at Purl. I love it, and wonder what it will be. Isn't it a perfect match to my late 1940's cookbook?
I think fabrics make the best souvenirs! Always usefull, and practical, too!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what you will create out of such lovely fabrics! We all know Bella wears orange well.
ReplyDeleteOne of my early projects was a retro half apron out of the same "Purl" fabric with an aqua background. It's still a favorite to wear. It will be lovely to see what these fabrics become!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!!! My suitcase came home full of sand this year. ;)
ReplyDeletelovely! I sometimes try to figure out why I'm drawn to certain color combinations - can't always figure it out. Right now I'm really into navy, which I have shunned for years as being difficult to match.
ReplyDeleteI have that same copy of the Meta Given cookbook which my husband found in the TRASH somewhere. I am still in the reading phase - haven't cooked anything from it. Recommend anything?
What beautiful fabrics.. Nothing like, getting to visit different fabric shops..and of Course...you HAVE to bring some home.lol
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing.
Oh that gray is so yummy.
ReplyDeleteLovely! A trip + fabric = FUN!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Pennsylvania soon. Do you have any fabric store recommendations?
You've convinced me to change my ways: no more t-shirts, coffee mugs or fridge magnets! Only fabric from now on (and the occasional purse or shoes).
ReplyDeleteVery satisfying.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely colour pallette. And it's my own experience: when you're bitten by the sewing bug, your stash is ever growing. No matter what you tell yourself.
ReplyDeleteShelley, I actually love shopping for my home when I'm on a trip. Dish towels, little things for the kitchen--if they're useful and beautiful they make great souvenirs that can actually be used and enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteWhat are your plans for the fabric?
ReplyDeleteNot sure! But probably something crisp for Bella . . .
