Yes, Another Apron: Simplicity 4692

I can't stop sewing aprons--they are the most satisfying projects to sew, plus I use them every day and enjoy having lots to choose from. I can't pass up Simplicity's "retro-reprint" patterns and want to try them all in the delicious silly fabrics (eclair, anyone?) that I can't resist at the store.

Here is one I sewed last week. I love the rick-rack trim, the topstitched triangular yoke, and the smart pockets. I do love the design details in these old-style apron patterns--the scalloped hems, bound edges, and dart fittings make them delightful to sew and to wear.

  1. Hmmm, perhaps you could start an at home business sewing aprons??? My favorite apron is like a security blanket for me.

Anna, my husband was out of town last night so I had some free time. I had the BEST time perusing your archives! It was really neat to watch Daisy go from a baby, to a little girl via photographs. (o:

After I was done reading I wanted to go and clean something! Your blog is very home-inspiring! I like that your posts are short but interesting....

I can't believe that you graduated from high school at 16 and then college at 18!! WOW!

  3. What a marvelous apron! Do you find that you prefer half-aprons, like the one you just made, or aprons that cover your upper half as well?

  8. Calla Lilly--No more home businesses for me! The one I'm in keeps me plenty busy!!!

Laura--I prefer half-aprons, but hate to have a strap around my neck, so I use or modify a pattern to put crossover straps that attach to the wais in the back.

Lisa--The pockets are on there! They do blend in to the busy print, but they have a line of rick-rack scallops at the top (yellow).
