Storing Gift Wrap
I have to admit that I am feeling like a genius here, having solved the problem for all time of how to store gift wrap. Previously my rolls have been unrolling and lolling about on an entire shelf, but no more. I bought a really cheap vinyl over-the-door shoe hanger, and hung it up inside the closet. Then, with a utility knife, I cut out the bottoms of all the pockets but the bottom row. I slid my rolls down through all the pockets and stuck their ends in the intact pockets.
The hanger was tall enough to do two stories of this, so I can store lots and lots of rolls in no space at all, and they stay in good shape.
You are brilliant! (Off to do this now at my house...)
ReplyDeleteAnna, you are simply brilliant! I've got most of mine in an under-the bed container, but I've got several that are too long to fit, so I think I may have to try this. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou have stumbled into the genius range.
ReplyDeleteI purchased something from Rubbermaid that was similar. I've had it for a couple of years, and I love it! (http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/product.jhtml?prodId=HPProd100266)
ReplyDeleteYour idea is very similar and may be more economical! I think I paid $20 for mine. Creative thinking indeed!
Great Idea!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletepure genius-- surely! (Now could you put your mind to the tissue paper that is left after you open the package and use some?)
ReplyDelete:-)) Great idea!
Perfect timing! Just today my girls ransacked my wrapping paper box to turn it into a "bus." I was more than a little frustrated with wrapping paper all over my laundry room floor, but it looks like the dollar store may have what I need!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna!
Excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteAnna,
You should submit this idea for Works For Me Wednesday. Shannon over at Rocks In My Dryer hosts it every Wednesday.
If you're interested, go to my blog and in the sidebar click on one of my 'Works For Me' posts and you can get the link to Shannon's blog (I can't think of what the link is right now.)

This is genius! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteyou are correct to feel like a genius.. I have mine standing in a trash can in the corner of the closet... this is soooooo much better
ReplyDeletepat yourself on the back Mrs. fix it!!
That is really clever! I think I am going to borrow that idea! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is truly inspired!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea and thank you for sharing! This is the answer to one of those age old mysteries we face in our homes - what to do with the gift wrap. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant. I have at least one un-used shoe organizer hanging around (literally) that I can use for this or something like it soon. THANK YOU for sharing this idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I'll have to copy that one.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this great storage tip.
Sheer genius! I had a friend who would make really nice wrapping paper organizers out of twill for a local craft expo, but they were always out of my budget range. This is such a great idea! I'm so tired of my rolls getting all crunched up in my closet or under my bed. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea! I read above that someone wanted an idea to help organize the loads of tissue paper. Try this: Take a 3-ring binder, and use sheet protectors (You know, those clear page-sized plastic covers) to hold all your tissue (organized by color). Keeps it night and tidy, and easy to find exactly the right color.
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea. I will have to try this now that holidays are coming up and I typically shop around for wraping supplies. You could get a jelry organizer for ribbon, tape, and scissors...and on the back contact paper some file folders to store tissue pappperr....oops sorry the creative juices got flowing.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea! I just have all the rolls standing up in a big cardboard box in my attic. As for the tissue storage, I bought a large 3-drawer plastic bin, and use one drawer for bows (most of which are recycled); one drawer for all the tissue (folded flat and much of it also recycled); lastly, one drawer for all the gift bags -- you guessed it, most of them recycled! At least I broke the kids of their embarrassing -- if well intentioned -- habit of asking for the bags back immediately after someone opened their gift! ha ha!
