White Pumpkin
Our packet of mixed pumpkin seeds yielded several white pumpkins. Love the autumnal shape, and the ghostly color. Like a moon floating on the green cupboard.
To those who have never seen one, a story: These first appeared at a farmers' market (wonderful Christian business) near my parents' house maybe ten years ago. My cousin was about 7 at the time, and they lived about 75 miles away. I think she saw the pictures of, or the actual, white-pumpkin jack-o'-lantern that my father made, and told her teacher about it. The teacher called my uncle (cousin's father), certain that my cousin was telling a lie. Uncle and Grandmother assured Teacher that Cousin was telling the truth, they had seen the pumpkin in the flesh.
Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteAlbino pumpkins? Never seen one, although i like it better than it orange cousin.

ReplyDeleteHow neat! I've never seen a white pumpkin before.

(By the way, the inside is orange.)
I love this photograph. Thank you for corralling and sharing Giles' eye for beauty in the everyday.
