A lot of vintage patterns look alike, but this dress looks fresh and singular to me. The oval neckline, the deeply notched collar, the get-me-every-time 3/4 length sleeves with darts. The ribbon belt!
And look, it's made out of only six pattern pieces!
This is a very nice silky quilting cotton from The Creative Needle in Denver, CO. Did I mention I'll be going fabric shopping in Denver again in early January? Let me mention it now.
Collar and ribbon details.
lovely Anna,
ReplyDeletemy favorite color, and it is so pretty! I know you are excited to wear it, and you are such a great seamstress! Wish I had your talent!
I can only crochet blankets. Merry Christmas, and may all His blessings be yours! Christina Gomez
Gosh the skirt falls beautifully. What a beauiful dress - enjoy wearing it!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a fun fabric! I've never thought of looking for dress fabric at The Creative Needle...I'll have to keep that in mind next time I'm there!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely! What a wonderful vintage style -- the collar makes the dress, in my opinion. The fabric you chose suits it perfectly. I love seeing your vintage creations!

This is a lovely pattern - love the simple detailing and 3/4 sleeves (my favorite). I can envision this being altered a tich (more fitted and to the floor) to be a winter wedding dress. :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty dress! I love the color.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dress! I wish I had one like it.

Oh, my! That is a lovely dress! And I so very much wish I could find great patterns like that one. They don't come in plus sizes, though, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteAnna, I love reading your blog and I love all your helpful ideas. They are very inspiring!
I bet that color bring out your true beauty Anna...wish I had some of your talent...;-)

Hmmm...I live in Denver. Guess I'll have to look that place up.
ReplyDeleteWould you like to drop in for a cup of tea? I'd love to welcome you to our home!
What?! No Rick-Rack?? *is shocked* Haha. Just kidding. ;-) It's a very beautiful dress! *envies*
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You are wonderfully talented. Do you happen to know the brand of your fabric? I'm wondering if I can find something like it online. It's hard to find nice silky cotton for dresses other than the typical quilter's cotton where I live.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Love the collar. Can you share about your dress form? You mentioned you made it from an internet tutorial, right?
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Merry Christmas,
Leslie
What a beautiful neckline! You're right--it does have a different flair than a lot of vintage dresses. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI have a question. I love reading about your sewing all these lovely vintage dresses and I wondered if you ever come across plus size patterns?
