Wife Dressing: The Fine Art of Being a Well-Dressed Wife
What can I say? First published in 1959. Crinolines, white gloves, dungarees, housecoats, hats. Advice on what to wear while housecleaning. While enjoying at-home leisure. While motoring.
This looks like a perfect birthday present for myself. In this day of dressing down for everything, I would love to imagine myself back in a time when there were rules for dressing appropriately for every occasion (even cooking in the kitchen or so the Amazon review says--I'd better go upstairs and change out of my PJs). Oh, to live in a time when white gloves and hats were de rigeur!

ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to get this book just for the fun of it, for a long time now. I'm glad you mentioned it for I had forgotten about it! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute book! I just borrowed it from the library.
