Nest from the Raspberry Field

Ah! The raspberries are still bearing, and we went up first thing yesterday to pick two gallons. On last week's trip we had seen a bird nest tucked into the canes, holding three eggs. This week the nest was abandoned, with just this one speckled egg left. We hope the other young ones fledged successfully.

Felix is guessing this belonged to a field sparrow. I love its delicate lines.

  1. How pretty! I am dying to make Martha's rustic rasberry rhubarb tart. Let us know how you use all those berries and share a yummy receipt if you can:-)

  4. I love how the nest ties in with the "branchiness" design of the plate. I found these plates in an antique store last week, but they were not in good shape as yours are. They were yellowed and chipped, and asking a huge price. They stayed right there. ;o)
