Inspiration can come from anywhere, which explains Daisy's request for this dress after noticing what Sally Cat was wearing one day in Busy Town (see Richard Scarry's Huckle Cat's Busiest Day Ever).
Sweet details are the Peter Pan collar, the piped sleevebands, the extra-long sash, and the vintage square pearly buttons down the back.
And what's this? Has a blue linen butterfly seriously alighted at Daisy's waist? I guess so!
I would too, if I were a butterfly.
If I were a butterfly I certainly would alight on such
ReplyDeletea precious little girl in her little printed dress with
such fine details. And a blue linen one at that!
Daisy, aren't you just so blessed to have a mother
that can put together your requests with such ease.
By the way Daisy how is your reading going?
Thanks for sharing another "Daisy Story" with us.

Oh how darling! I have made a few of these for my 4yo Lydia, she just loves them too:-)
ReplyDeleteOh my, this dress is so prefect for a little girl. What pattern did you use?
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, young lady!! From her curlied-up do to her cute tootsies!!
ReplyDeleteWarm greetings,
Rhonda in Montreal
Darling! I want a little girl.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your blog, and it's because of the sweet little things like a butterfly landing on Daisy's dress! You have a wonderful way with things.
ReplyDeleteLynn :)
marvelous!
ReplyDeleteWe love Busy Town, too, but have never gotten clothing inspiration from it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis dress is absolutely beautiful...as is the girl.
I love this dress, it is so cute! I was wondering (since I'm in the market for a new machine) what kind of sewing machine you used? Any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteAre you saying you just made this dress based on a picture in a book?! I'm so impressed! I wish I could do that, but I have to have a pattern. Even then, things don't always turn out quite like I want them to.
ReplyDeleteDaisy looks so sweet and charming, and the dress looks so well made. It's the little details that count sometimes, and that butterfly sure did make for a cute element!
ReplyDeleteThat is so precious!
ReplyDeleteBusy Town was a favorite here for years! I'd forgotten about it until today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dress on a lovely little lady! And that butterfly...oh my....just precious.
she has the cutest head tilt ever! It's okay when you're not posting, Anna, it means you're sewing : )

Anna, this is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet dress! I use to love Richard Scary books when I was younger too. This pics are great fun to pour over.
ReplyDeleteI'm so all about clothing, toy and home inspiration from children's books. It's a wellspring, I tell you.
ReplyDeleteYour little brown girl is adorable.
Madison and I are enjoying seeing Daisy and her beautiful dress. Your children are so blessed.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! Daisy's looking tall all of a sudden.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little dress! I dream of having a daughter someday and if I do I want to keep her in such sweet little dresses all the time. :) Daisy is such a beautiful little girl. The butterfly is such a darling touch!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous as always, Anna! It's just what a little girl's dress should be, and I love the length.
ReplyDeletePrecious! The butterfly lends just the right "touch" of magic. : )
ReplyDeletep.s.
I love the fashions of Busy town, too.
I remember those days! Our children still think that they can show me a picture and I can make one *whatever their fancy* for them - thankfully they are well contented with my simplified rendition, or a simple - 'I'm sorry, I'm not a miracle worker dear!' In this case, you have captured Sally Cat's dress perfectly, we know that book well! Lovely job Anna!
ReplyDeleteDaisy looks absolutely precious!!! The dress is perfect for her!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, how sweet! Boy... In the short time I've been following your blog, Daisy has grown so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog but I've been eating it up bit by bit ever since I've found it. It's been one of those little gifts the Lord gives to let us know that he's thinking of us today. He's so thoughtful. I discovered it when I was looking for a non-dairy chicken pot pie recipe and it came up on google- God works in mysterious ways! In any case I can't help but notice that you use covered buttons a lot- which is something I drool at with my eyes but don't have the money to buy. Is it possible to give me directions on how to make my own? I have quite a few buttons and quite a few unfinished projects without them - but I ACHE for covered buttons. Thank you so much- Peace of Jesus.
ReplyDeleteThat is a darling dress!
ReplyDeleteVery very pretty...oh, the dress, too!
ReplyDeleteLaura
Wow, that's gorgeous! Love the butterfly.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely colorful blog you had! i enjoyed my stay :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love the fabric, design, and Daisy's hair up.
ReplyDeleteI sent you an email. I hope you received it. Let me know if you did not.
Blessings,
Mrs. Farrah Ginter
She looks absolutely scrumptious! Good work Mom!
ReplyDeleteLike Patty, I would like to know what pattern you used. You know how hard it is to find feminine dresses in the stores! And I have four girls to outfit... please do share.
