The fabric is beautiful and so is the pattern. Your girls are fortunate to have mother who sews, but you are also fortunate to have daughters who seem to appreciate all these things you do for them. Wish I could have seen all of Clara in this beautiful dress. Thanks for sharing. Ms. Dale
The pattern is just like a vintage SWIRL dress I purchased. I have been searching for a pattern to make them. Where did you find this one? My daughter loves these dresses too. I really like your fabric and trim combination!
Very beautiful AND inspiring! Last week I followed your example of your apron-inspired thrift store spiff-up. Turned out well YET reclaimed by my 10 year old daughter. Your blog is inspiring and encouraging to me, I look forward to more.
I'm chiming in with everyone else: PLEASE show the whole dress (front AND back) and what does one do to get a copy of that pattern? Sadly in a much larger size?
I've been working on a dress just like this (McCall 8164, posted 8/08) - I don't have the pattern so it's trial and error - Clara's dress came out beautifully! I'd love to see what the rest of it looked like!!!
I love the pattern and the fabric is BEAUTIFUL! Where ever did you find such pretty fabric, pray tell. I love it! Lucky Clara!

I think those were called swirl dresses....they swirl around you and have one button. Very CUTE!!! Please show the whole dress.....

I am officially ashamed of myself. I have two lovely daughters and I haven't been sewing for them.
ReplyDeleteI must get busy while they will still like it!

Very pretty! I love the fabric.

ReplyDeleteHow cute is that?
ReplyDeleteSimply darling! Oh, I am ever so envious! =) I love the rickrack and the cut of the skirt.

Ahhh....just lovely. I have always loved the rickrack trims on your sewing.
ReplyDeleteI stopped breathing for a minute when I saw that butter-yellow one on the pattern envelope.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love it! :-)

ReplyDeleteYour blog always inspires me! Yesterday's post made me want to run right out to the thrift shop; still hunting for a good one around here.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to try making the sponge cake!
You stitch such beautiful dresses for your beautiful girls! I am so hoping our next grandbaby, due in February, will be a girl to sew for.
As usual- absolutely gorgeous! Both the dress and daughter are lovely :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dress! Very feminine fabric, but it looks like it would be quite practical, too.
ReplyDeletePlease post full length shots.

I sure wish they'd re-issue some of these numbers.
ReplyDeleteCould you please show a picture of the whole dress? It looks like it is very pretty, but I can only see such a tiny bit of it...
