Bring Christmas on: I'm ready now that Bella and I made a big stack of very simple gift tags. "To" and "From" printed out on cardstock, cut with scallops, and glued onto squares of scrapbook paper (I had two pages in the house, and both had some red and some green on them, so that counts as Christmas).
I have been on a huge use-up-what-I-have-without-buying-more kick, which extends to all parts of my life, including gift tags.
Good thinking, Anna! I love your frugality with a flair!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I love your gift tags!
ReplyDeletesuper cute!
ReplyDeleteEven if you had to spend some money because you had nothing to make gift tags with, that would still be a fun and frugal way to do it, rather than buying the multitude of tags you inevitably need!
ReplyDeleteYours look very festive indeed!
Actually I made a gift tag myself today to go with a 50th birthday gift. Layers of solid green, solid lavender and a sponged-look green with scalloped edges around the top layer. I was pretty impressed with the outcome!
Here's another frugal hint to extend your very cute gift card tags - those colors are perfect to compliment gifts wrapped with the Sunday comics. I save the comics sections throughout the year and then use them as wrapping paper. Makes for some very fun gift giving.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good kick to be on - I've been trying to follow your example in using up what's in the pantry and the freezer - it's amazing and interesting what you can think up for dinners when you think there's "nothing" in the house!
ReplyDeleteI'm learning a lot from this exercise.
Considering the state of the world, this is how we should always be. I had a nightmare the other night after an employee of a big store was trampled to death by shoppers.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea! I have been pondering over what do do about Christmas wrapping and tagging this year. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am totally with you on the use up what we have wagon!
ReplyDeleteThe tags look great!
Jennifer
These are so simple and lovely!
ReplyDeleteoh I just love it when I find a simple and wonderful idea like this. One that *I* can actually do... being the more wordy, less artsy person that I am... thank you Anna, I just love all of your beautiful ideas.
ReplyDeleteLove these!! What a great idea!
ReplyDeletevery pretty and useful. i like using what i have too.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I always make tags every year, but usually just with ink pens and index cards. I'm going to have to dig up some craft paper this year!
ReplyDeleteHow do you attach them? I typically punch a hole in mine and tie them on with ribbon, but I'm curious to hear what you will do with these.
They're adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe do the same here at our house. Last year's Christmas cards become the foundation of this year's gift tags. My children have always loved doing this project....we have even gotten some very nice feedback from the gift recipients!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
You totally inspired me! As I was wrapping some presents last night I realized that I was nearly out of gift tags. So today, after your inspiration, my mom and I whipped these up: http://justasiam.typepad.com/just_as_i_am/2008/12/christmas-gift-tag-tutorial.html
ReplyDeleteI'll use double sided tape to stick them to the gifts. Thanks for sharing yours!
Very cute. I also have been on a use-what-you-have kick. I've posted by my craft and sewing supplies:
ReplyDeleteUse it up.
Wear it out.
Make do
or
Do without.
