Help me know how you cut those so exactly...are you stitching them together by machine? Details please on the how to! They are absolutely lovely...I think this is my favorite.
My goodness! I had just begun a small baby quilt (and planned two more) before you started stiching. I did manage to finish the 1st (a mere 32" square), but obviously I move a lot more slowly. You are quite talented!
I use a ruler to trace the squares out, marking them with pencil, then cutting with scissors--simple if tedious. Then the sewing machine. Otherwise I'd still be on the first row of the first quilt!
I am absolutely amazed! How do you do it all? Do you finish in one day or do you have multiple projects going at one time? It is beautiful and because of you and all these beautiful quilts I've seen, I am inspired to make my family a special picnic blanket. Always an inspiration to be found here. Have a blessed day!
Your quilts have motivated me. I really like daisy's. I'm searching my fabrics to make one for my daughters bed. I picked up an antique white curvy headboard that needs a little touch up and I know a homemade mamma quilt will make it perfect! Thank you for sharing your creativity.
I adore blue. Love the tiny squares. I do read your blog, but never comment. I love how short and lovely your posts are, so I make time for it. It's a small bit of beauty for me each day. Thank you. Always nicely done. Julie Jones, Morgantown, WV
I am doubly impressed Anna. Cutting all that fabric with scissors? I'm surprised your hands worked after that enough to sew it all together.
It looks lovely.
The most wonderful I ever discovered in quilting was a roller cutter, cutting mat and the transparent pre-marked ruler. You zoom through your cutting and it's all perfectly exact.
Oh,this is so beautiful. Those will be my next colors. You inspired me and I am making a scrap quilt because I fell in love with Daisy's. I am also cutting the squares with scissors, tracing a 3" cardboard square. I am having fun digging through all kinds of fabric scraps that my quilter friend gave me. She used to work in a quilt shop so there are many, many different scraps that she collected over the years. Thank you for the inspiring posts, and the lovely photos. ~~Dianne~~
I know you're well-read, so I assume you know the poem, but if you don't... check out Robert Louis Stevenson's "Land of Counterpane." :) Beautiful quilts. :)
Your scrap quilts are beautiful. I received a bunch of fabric at my son's baby shower (6 years ago) and I think that I am going to make it into a scrap quilt for him.
How do you cut the 3" squares? Do you cut a 3 inch strip and then cut into squares or do you do each one individually with a template?
Oh so nice... and very lively for blue. All the green adds just the right touch.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Square patchwork quilting is an art ~ deceptively simple in appearance, but difficult to execute. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteYour little one is growing up to be a very handsome young man!

ReplyDeleteA really helpful trick is using sandpaper for the pattern. It grips the fabric a bit and keeps it from sliding.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt and wonderful boy!
