His feathers are such delicate and subtle shades of gray. Then oops! that lipstick red tail just to remind you that he's in fact *not* all about business.
He's brilliant, loves to talk, imitates all our voices. Gentle, loves to be tickled on the head by everyone including Daisy (supervised of course!), loves Duplos and playing cards, eats his veggies.
Looks silly when upside down.

ReplyDeleteI lived in West Africa with my family for a number of years as a teenager and we had some friends with an African Gray. He whistled the theme from "Indiana Jones" and imitated the sound of their metal gate opening & closing followed by the sound of flip-flops on the front walk. He spoke 3 languages! They are delightful birds. Such wonders God hath wrought- even in the animal kingdom.

ReplyDeleteFor all you lovers of African Grey's I just picked up a book at the library tonight that's really a great read. Alex and Me by Irene M Pepperberg. True story. She's a scientist who was studying the intelligence of the African Grey for 30 years. Sadly Alex passed away but that's why she wrote the book.
