We sent a box of these lemony cookies off to Giles this week. To a regular sugar cookie recipe I added the zest of a lemon. After the cookies baked and cooled, I glazed each one with a tart glaze: juice of half a lemon mixed with enough powdered sugar to hold together (about 3/4 cup).
Heard him eating them on the phone; he was thrilled to eat frosting!
MMM, sounds delicious, I am sure he enjoyed them!
ReplyDeleteSweet. I'm sure Giles was so appreciative!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the best combinations! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteYummy! I love citrusy sugar cookies. My mother and I always add orange zest to our Christmas cookie cutouts.

They are darling! I love anything tart...mmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic combination! I am going to try it soon!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, yummmm! I do LOVE lemon!
ReplyDeleteThey sound great.. I love lemon, but can't make a cookie to save my life. I wish that was the one thing I could bake. Giles is one lucky young man.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI don't comment much but I love your recipes. Your Schoolhouse Coffeecake recipe is printed out and taped to the inside of a kitchen cabinet because I use it so much. :)
I'm making shortbread today and I have a couple Meyer lemons that need to be used soon. I'll try this with the shortbread.
It is so hard having a dairy allergy. I only have a slight allergy to milk...although I wish I could have ice cream:)

ReplyDeleteThose look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThey look lemony! Yum! I made 2 loaves of white bread today, and 2 pans of Tasha Tudor's butterscotch rolls. Happy Baking!
ReplyDeleteDid they arrive intact? If you have a secret for packing cookies, I'd be interested to hear it.
ReplyDeleteOh how good those look! I think my boys would love cookies like this as well!
ReplyDeleteI think I know what to do with those two lemons in the refrigerator now. . .
