This red and pink scrap quilt is for Clara. If anyone's counting, it's number four! One more to go . . . .
I limited the palette to all shades of pink and some red. And lots of really vibrant coral. This quilt really shimmers with color--it makes me think of a hot summer garden in the full sun.
Clara, for all her quiet personality, loves saturated color. This quilt is just right for her.
All the children helped me piece it in a mad flurry at the dining table. Two machines, twelve hands, ninety minutes!
90 minutes! Unreal! It's beautiful, boldly feminine... reminds me of one of Alicia Paulson's quilts.
ReplyDeleteClara is a very blessed girl!
That is great! I love it.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, love this color combo. I'm not even as much of a "quilt" person, but this combo of colors is heart-melting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to cherish and remember the wonderful family time piecing it together! A treasured heirloom for sure!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gorgeous!! Red and pink are my favourites... that is so very much my dream quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning!
ReplyDeleteI want to be you when I grow up, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful, Anna! You just keep on inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful keepsake for Clara, to know that the whole family contributed to this piece of beauty!

It looks lovely. I would like to know how to piece a quilt together.
ReplyDeleteI just love all your quilts, and when I first saw this one I thought, Oh! Another beautiful quilt, but when I read that you all pieced it together, makes it even more beautiful! You have such a wonderful family, you should be proud!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, love the colors you used...my favorites!

You made that in 90 minutes?? It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilting! I sew for the public and have saved bags and bags of scraps for this purpose. Thank you for sharing your "how-tos", they are just what I needed! I want to make easy, functional quilts, not time consuming, works of art. (Though they ARE lovely!) What size are the squares you used for this quilt...and what sizes do you use for the others you've done?
ReplyDeleteI wondered how you're able to get these done so quickly--12 hands and 2 machines!--that's what I need! But with my oldest being only 7, I may have to keep moving in slow-motion for a while :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful, and the reds and pinks together are perfect!
such a beautiful, vibrant quilt. I just love the colors.
ReplyDeleteYou made that in 90 minutes??? Will you please come on a tour of duty to my house? I will feed you well, I will provide all the supplies (except one machine) and I will... do pretty much anythign you asked. Ha.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. I liked the blue one too but this appeals to the bold side of me.
I'm in love with all your quilts! You've inspired me to try my own scrap quilt. I have tons of fabric, just none of it "matchy-matchy". Thank you for sharing this beautiful and simple way of quilting.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a little cottage industry going there.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to do it together.
Pink is my very favorite color - any shade will do. The reds add just the right spice.
I love it.
Anna,
ReplyDeleteYour quilts are just gorgeous! You have inspired me even more to learn how to sew :) I think that it's great making a quilt for each child, as well as the china pattern for each. Wonderful ideas!
I am in awe. Ninety minutes?!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is beautiful and your family is an amazing little army of workers.
Love your quilts and I am still busy cutting the fabric squares for mine. A question for you---
ReplyDeleteWhen you quilt it by sewing the diagonal lines, how do manage the bunched up fabric as you move more to the center of the quilt? You know, the part that would be to the inside of the sewing machine. Do you roll it up to fit it thru, or what? Can you tell this will be my first time doing this?! Thanks for any help and for sharing all the tutorials!
I love it! Just as lovely as the blue one. Carol Ann
ReplyDelete90 minutes? Sakes alive! It's gorgeous. I adore those colors. :)
ReplyDeleteOnce again, it is a lovely piece, Anna! Your children will really value all that you have done for their "grown up" years. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I can't wait to see what Bella's quilt will be like. My daughter loved seeing the picture of her standing at the American Girl store.

beautiful...the colors are just gorgeous
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love pink and red quilts--they are so feminine.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a red and pink quilt for my little girls room, Do you ever sell your handy work? I would like one just like that its soo beautiful, if your interested please respond to this post and I can send you my email address...
ReplyDeleteI know this is an older post but I just found it and LOVE this style of quilt! I have never even attempted a quilt before, but this has made me feel that I want to tackle it! I love the simple squares, no pattern. I think doing the top of the quilt would be no problem, but I have no idea what to do after that! I have been searching the internet and can't find much, all the quilting sites seem to assume that you know how to do that part or will figure it out on your own. You seem like you do things the simple way (saw your post on the Martha Stewart book), so can you please point me in the right direction? How do I buy batting? How do I attach the 3 layers together? What is the easiest way to quilt them? Maybe you have some tutorials on your site that I haven't seen, but even if you send me to another site with good tutorials, that would be awesome! I really want to make a patchwork quilt for my little girls room in reds, pinks, and blues and I'm ready to get started! :) Thanks so much! So glad I found your site!
