A Good Year for Honeysuckle

Is there a word sweet enough for this year's honeysuckle? It's everywhere, lush and deep and smelling like heaven.

  1. I had forgotten honeysuckle. I love to smell its wonderful fragrance.

I must try to find some to plant.
I hope it grows in shade.

  4. My parents have honeysuckle planted just outside their front door. Every time I smell honeysuckle, no matter where I am, I think of Mom and Dad!

  5. On these warm humid nights the fragrance of the native honeysuckle is glorious. And right now the
china berry is in full bloom and the fragrance of the two together makes me want to sit on the porch forever. Wonderful!!!

  6. My husband and I took a walk this morning and there was honeysuckle everywhere -- people's yards, on the hillside, just everywhere -- gorgeous! One of my favorite smells. Yours looks just perfect in the milk glass!

  8. I noticed this week that our honeysuckle is beginning to bloom. I love that perfume wafting across the yard to my back door, bringing with it fond memories of standing in my grandparents' honeysuckle-lined driveway, sipping every blossom I could get my hands on.

  10. We pull out the stamen (?) and suck the juice out. Divine. Aussie school children enjoy this in the Spring.

  12. Walking outdoors with the smell of honeysuckle wafting through the breeze is one of the best things in the world. As soon as you step outside you can smell it in the air here. It is heaven!

  13. I learned recently that honeysuckle attracts white moths in the evening. What an ethereal picture - the fuzzy moths flitting in the moonlight over the flowers. I read that it was called woodbine in Shakespeare's time.
