That's right, for a brief time I can pick them all at once. Then the blackberries come on . . . .
My big kids are gone for the week, doing service projects in the Appalachias, so Daisy, Bella and I had to pick without them. Not as many hands: not as many berries!
Tomorrow we girls are heading off on a little trip of our own--a couple of nights camping in the big woods. Lots of good things to eat, and my first ever trail run! I'm hoping I don't fall off the mountain.
Strawberry season is one of the nicest--I'm also knee-deep in cherries right now.
ReplyDeleteI bet you will love trail running. It is more meditative than road running (but don't twist an ankle!), so peaceful, and seems more interesting. Also nice on the knees. That's my perspective, anyhow, and my husband shares it--after years of competitive high school & collegiate running, he's really found fresh love over the past few years in doing 10-17 milers in the mountains on Saturday mornings. I do at least a couple trail runs each week (but not long like my husband's).
Mmm, delicious! I'm so bummed, I picked up farm fresh raspberries at the Farmers Market on Tuesday and by the time I took them out on Friday to eat them they were moldy. :(
ReplyDeleteOh my! Those are just beautiful berries! I need to hit the local berry farm, too. And we're all looking forward to the wild blackberries that grow in my parents' neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely time, Anna. What precious time with your sweet girls. :) Those berries look so beautiful! It is now winter here, and cold, so they look especially warm and delicious and summery to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed you're camping with just the girls! Very fun!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful trio! Yum.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for roots on the path!
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, I was going to e-mail you privately but didn't see a link to that. I was wondering if you could help me with a bit of information.
ReplyDeleteI've really been wanting contribute to Charity i.e. I want to work in the Appalachias, but I don't know how to go about it.
I've done internet searches but I'm finding nothing I'm looking for, and I remember reading your children were going to be working there. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!
~Jessica
