Felix is too busy this month to come home, but he did allow that we could come visit him Saturday to share lunch, then attend his choir concert.
He misses home food so we brought a good picnic--a giant pot of potato-leek soup to heat up on the camp stove, and chicken Caesar salad all around.
We found a park not far from his school with picnic tables, a view, and beautiful hiking trails. No hiking this time though--it was enough to sit in the sun and look at Felix.
"I've realized that everything at home is beautiful," he told me while we ate. It is.
So much is.
"I've realized that everything at home is beautiful". And that one sentence is about the sweetest thing a parent could ever hear.
ReplyDeleteblessings to you & your lovely family, Anna-
Brenda
What a blessing to hear your son say he's "realized everything at home is beautiful". And what a blessing that there are still women out there who make certain of that. Kudos to you!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteHow absolutely sweet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing for your son to have realised. I see from your blog that your home really is beautiful. Beauty in our surroundings is important; it is something our mind drinks in. I think it nourishes us. You are doing an outstanding job.
ReplyDeleteKind regards,
Sonya
What a lovely thing for a son to say, what a lovely thing for a mom to hear Anna.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and your family.

I see that Bethany has alredy said what I planned to ... so I'll join her. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a real accolade.
ReplyDeleteThat brought me to tears and gave me the boost I need to try harder to make our home a place of beauty on all levels. Thanks for the beauty.
ReplyDeleteYes, Anna - it's your doing, your effort.
ReplyDeletethank you for a very sweet site.....it's a breath of fresh air for me. Somehow I am reminded to slow down a bit and enjoy what's around......
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful Anna! Sounds like a lovely picnic. I have a question. How do you make everything beautiful? What do you do that would have him make such a statement? I've been a homemaker for a several years, but am still learning!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention how dark his hair has gotten since he left!
ReplyDelete::sniff:: Dear, dear boy. You are a blessed mother. :)
ReplyDeleteThis may be my favorite post ever! Hearing a 16-year-old boy say that about home must be so gratifying! I try to cultivate beauty in our home, too (only have a 2 year old son so far) and though I generally don't make requests, I would echo the request of sharing some things you enjoy doing and have enjoyed doing in order to cultivate a beautiful life. I know much of this is shown in your posts, of course. I try to use beautiful music, flowers or even twigs (depending on the season & the grocery store selection!), pretty toys and books to keep things lovely. But I'm always looking for fresh ideas on this aspect of daily living.
ReplyDeleteI think my heart would swell three sizes, Grinch-style, if my son grew up and said something like that to me one day.
ReplyDeleteWhen our boys realize that, it is worth all the time and energy that goes into keeping a warm, cozy, and beautiful home. :)
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed coming here to catch a glimpse of the beauty in your life - and I've found myself wondering if your life truly is as beautiful as the pictures suggest. You know - sometimes I think that bloggers put on a good 'show' for their readers. But your son has answered my question - "I've realized that everything at home is beautiful". Thank you for this place to come and see and learn.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful words!
ReplyDeleteHer children will rise up and call her blessed.
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely. Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea for a student away from home.
ReplyDeletePeace.
Thank you for sharing that personal little glimpse of your life. I always am happy when you put up a new post--and I'm grateful that you are always a blog that I can freely let my teen daughter read. You definitely are tops in the blogging world (and in your own home too, I'm sure! ;-) )
ReplyDeleteso complimenting to the Mom!!!
ReplyDeletethis post is so inspirational to, keep at it, keep creating magic and making the mundane beautiful. Thanks for sharing Felix's words with us~
