Okay, I'm going to say I got really lucky this time. This three-piece ensemble is in perfect condition, in just my size, and it cost nothing. Really. Two dollars for all three pieces.
A medium-weight silk twill, and check out the bound pleats and covered buttons. Cuffs on the bias! Little bias binding bows!
I have to pass a gigantic thrift store on the way to Felix's school. Of course, I have to stop, and it's always right at closing time. So the routine goes like this: I race around the store with my cart while the checker closes out the Visa machine for the day. I rush up to the counter with my pile of unpriced goodies. The checker compliments my outfit, then eyes the pile and says, "Two dollars for everything but you'll have to pay cash." I love this lady.
What a beautiful and elegant outfit. It suits you well. The boots set it off nicely.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and so classy!
ReplyDeletewhen my daughters or I have a great find at a yard sale, we label it "the deal of the day". This lovely outfit would be the "deal of the Year'!! Wish I had a store like that in my neck of the woods. A lovely outfit! Thanks for sharing. Blessings, carrie
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on such a great find! It looks great on you and really suits you.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Major score! Doesn't it just make your day. Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful find! But what is the mysterious third piece? Is there some amazing vest under there?
ReplyDelete*Lucky* is not the word. It must have been divine intervention! You're going to wear it to court, right? Please do. Too many female attorneys wear the most boring (pants) suits! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAlyssa, it's a matching skirt that you can swap out with the dress. So, dress, jacket, and skirt.
ReplyDeleteI read your blog all of the time and you are an inspiration to me. I was shopping at the thrift store the other day and came across a lot of patterns in a package for 99 cents. I was able to use all of them but three of them they are vintage little girl patterns. I have 4 boys so we just don't have the need for them. I am a person that likes to find everything a good home, so I was wondering since you have a love for vintage if you would want them. they are Simplicity 6899 child 6x uncut, and Jiffy 4872 size 5 cut out, and Butterick 3660 size 6 uncut. Maybe they would fit Daisy? If you would like them I will mail them to you. Thank you for your daily inspiration. Stacey { my email is: stacey@dchick.com}
ReplyDeleteI used to work for an apparel manufacturer and, really, that outfit looks familiar to me! Is there a label in it...I'd be curious what brand it is. It does look fab on you!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a find - and silk no less! It must feel like a dream - and made to fit you for sure! I remember my grandmother taking a course on suit making in the early 70's and her creation had all those wonderful details - she did hers in a warm brown wool twill (that complimented her rich auburn curls) and I loved it! I remember the outfit ended up in the tickle trunk after she died and we played dress up in it for years - it was always the 'teacher's suit'!
ReplyDeletelovely! I didn't know pleats could BE bound. Great color with the dark boots and pearl earrings.
ReplyDeleteFahbulous, dahling... just fahbulous.
