This has got to be the most exciting winter of all time, at least since the seventies. So much snow we actually need to shovel it (well, the Composer was out there with the digging spade because that's what we have).
We feel like people in a book! A book set up North!
I am glad you are enjoying a bit of the white stuff! We have had lots of snow this winter too, and are presently in the midst of another winter storm - quite exciting for our little corner of the Midwest! Sadly our faithful old snowblower, left from our days in Canada has chosen this winter to cause all sorts of trouble! Even our old shovel gave up in the face of 12 inches of heavy white fluff! Oh well, it's all an adventure! Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it! We're getting tons up here in the "North". I always say that if it has to be cold, we might as well have snow to make it beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWe just got another 14 inches.....we don't shovel...we use snowblowers. :) I wouldn't trade my 4 seasons for anything...epecially snow for Christmas time. You should really make some homemade ice cream....we use the old crank machine.
ReplyDeleteLucky! Us Atlantans would love to see that much snow!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! Glad you enjoy the snow! We always get plenty... I don't mind though, it is beautiful and sure makes the house all the more cozy and warm!
ReplyDeleteI have nothing positive to say about snow or shoveling it. I've tried to think of something, but my mind goes blank. I'm so glad to be out of it finally. I once was asked how much snow is too much. I answered, 1 flake.
ReplyDeleteI love snow and being up north a digging spade wouldn't help much. I just posted on my blog about my first snow-blowing experience. :)
ReplyDeleteEven in Germany there is lots of snow this year! Everything is covered under a white blanket since weeks now.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's heat and humidity here.
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice at the Composer's hat, for a moment I thought he was wearing an Akubra! I was about to make him an honourary Australian.
How exciting!! Do You like the snow? We live in the north and really like to get out and enjoy it...snowshoeing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling....We are expecting a big snow storm tonight into tomorrow....we can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteI like the snow because it highlights one of the many differences between men and women. I started shoveling snow yesterday and was pretty impressed with how well I was doing until my husband came home. He cleared the remainder of the driveway in less than the amout of time it took me to do my "impressive" little swatch. I'm 44 and still surprised by the strength of men.
ReplyDeleteYes, people in a book!
ReplyDeleteThe Composer could be a stand-in for Sarah Plain & Tall's Jacob Witting or
Love Comes Softly's Clark Davis...
What a great timeless picture.

I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw our snow this morning. It can get bothersome to cope with sometimes, but I still love to see it cover everything. :o)
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to get a big storm today, but - where is it? You seem to have more than we do. It's very slow in coming.
ReplyDeleteWe are in Baltimore and IT. IS. NUTS. up here! I love, love, love the snow but this is getting to be a bit much, even for me!! Enjoy and stay safe! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of snow here! Two storms nearly back to back. We will have about 4 feet of snow when everything is all said and done!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to our world. Isn't it wonderful? We are getting 10 inches today and I have the day off from work....what could be nicer!
ReplyDeleteWe would like it if you could send some our way.
ReplyDeleteUp here in MI, we'd been without a good snowfall for several weeks. We were excited to get a blanket of fresh new snow yesterday. I can just imagine how exciting it is for you to get so much snow, when it's not usual for you! enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great? We're in Baltimore, where it's snowing heavily and blowing at the moment. There was about 30 inches already on the ground before this storm and anywhere from another 10-20" forecast. I've never seen this much snow at one time in my life. I hurt from shovelling all of it, but I'm having a blast! Glad you all are enjoying, too.

I agree with Elizabeth: If it's going to be cold, bring on the snow!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly have our share here, & it's wonderful. A couple days ago my son shoveled a path to our barn. The snow was easily up to his chest, so it required a good deal of effort to make even a narrow path (frankly, he loved all that exertion!).

What fun! I live up north and we've gotten very very little snowfall since Christmas. :~(
ReplyDeleteSnow is lovely when it's a novelty, but it's not so much fun when you have to spend 3 plus months dealing with snow and ice like we do in upstate NY. Not to be totally negative here, it's absolutely gorgeous to look at on the ground and the trees. It's just that after so many weeks of it, you just want it to end. I appreciate seeing it through your eyes. It reminds me of the beauty in spite of the work.
ReplyDeletei remember that storm in the late 70s! I guess it would be exciting to have it again, if its' been 30+ years.

We got 2 feet last week and looks like we're getting another 2 feet today. It's beautiful and fun today, but I sigh when I think of the work ahead, living between drifts and putting snow gear on myself and the little ones every time we need to go out.
ReplyDeleteI'm on Day 7 of being marooned at home with a 2 year old boy, and yet I'm still loving the snow, too. It's so beautiful. It gives me an excuse to stay home and knit, read, and snuggle. High winds are causing major drifts here now, so I might be knitting, reading, and snuggling with my husband at home tomorrow--his isn't the only car tonight stuck in our country lane!
ReplyDeleteYour picture is magazine worthy....I love it. If I had it, I'd frame it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your snow and grab a snow shovel next time you see one, they're handy for more than snow!
XOXO
Joni
I am totally green with envy. Sweltering in high summer here in Australia. Pregnancy should always occur when there is ice outside, a warm fire inside and somewhere to snuggle with my babies! As it is, we are all laying about perspiring and I resemble a beached whale!
