"A Beautiful Room"

"That would make a beautiful room . . . all white, heavy white enamel. She saw where her money would go now, in pots of paint and brushes, and the work would take days, weeks; but it would be beautiful. She could see her dream before her, and was happy."

  1. I just finished "Phoebe Deane" and am starting on "Daphne Deane" tonight. Thank you for introducing me to Grace Livingston Hill!

  2. Oh my goodness, I knew as soon as I saw this in my reader, which book it was from. This is my second favorite GLH book (after The Gold Shoe). In fact, this book actually inspired me to go back to university and finish my interior design degree. Love it. Unfortunately, I loaned out my copy long ago and never got it back -- I may be trolling eBay tonight! Thanks for the lovely reminder :)

  4. How you are feeling at the moment I'm guessing?

Our library has the most *pitiful* GLH collection. Its quite distressing.

  7. One of my absolute favorite books by GLH. I love the descriptions of what Cornelia was able to do with that grubby little house. Such inspiration! :)

  9. I enjoy your sense of humor, and your ability to convey your thoughts and ideas so succinctly. Sounds like the painting is still in progress!

  11. I do declare,Anne! Your "neat and dainty as a flower" blog is looking a little bit lonely! ;) It is good to see a few of GLH quotes back up on your blog. I adore GLH stuff just as much as you do. I always find so many quotes out of her books that I would love to use as well.

  12. I actually quoted from Re-Creations on my blog this week, as well. Just finished it (again) last night. I'm glad to see it's a favorite of many of your readers--I've read it many, many times!
