Alabama Studio Style: Beaded Tank Top

The more I dig into Alabama Studio Style the more I love it. I also find that I can only absorb so much, then I need to go do a little of it: then the next time I go through the book I grasp more.

These are just beautiful garments. This is a beaded tank top. Every stitch is done by hand. I kept it simple, with just the decorative viney stitch to finish the seams and the neck and armhole binding, and then a little necklace trim done in brown bugle bead eyelets.

  2. Ever since you first mentioned this book I have had it on my amazon wishlist. My birthday is coming up and I really hope someone went and bought it for me. Because the more I see from it the more I want to try making something myself!

  6. I completed my first piece from that book last night and I can't wait to wear it for the first time. I did the primary seams on my machine, mainly out of impatience to have it put together, and then finished the felled seams, arms and neckline by hand. I'm hooked!

  7. So lovely!

Just this morning I was thinking about your blog and how I miss it (I didn't realize you are blogging again), and then I saw a link to it on a blog I only occasionally read. So happy to have found you again!

Your posts always make me smile.

  8. I don't really sew, am only an adequate cook and baker, a terrible decorator - and I love your site. You introduce me to something new all the time!

I am raising 4 boys and homeschooling, have one by adoption - so many things different about us and some in common!! Thanks for coming back to the blog.

  9. Did you sew the tank or only the beading? I can only sew by hand and would love to make some easy tank type dresses, but worry about doing it all by hand and taking an eternity.
