Clara's Shrug, But Not Mine

Clara and I started knitting the "Avril" Shrug from Pretty Knits by Susan Cropper, each of us casting on and beginning our projects on the road to Savannah last weekend. She sailed away with this fairly complex lacy stitch, while I knitted my swatch once, twice, eight times. Not funny.


Finally I got through seven rows without messing up, chose a needle size, and started the sweater. The five rows of seed stitch went fine, but I messed up the FIRST ROW of lace. Sigh. I've set mine aside.


Clara, on the other hand, is about to begin shaping the front yoke, and it's knit from the bottom up. No fair. Unless I can get her to make mine for me . . . .

    Oh dear.

    Does Clara have a tip on decreasing when knitting lace? I always find the armholes are a nightmare,

    Beautiful! I love lace knitting, but it does take so much concentration. I look forward to seeing the finished product!

    I've been a lurker until now...

    Beautiful pattern and color.
    Sometimes that's the way it goes... been in the same spot with my daughter as well, although not with knitting. A good chance to sit back and celebrate our capable children!

    yep, and this is my I stick to my basic knitted dishcloths (although that lacy stitch is so pretty!). However, I'm taking the bus to a new job and I'm thinking of knitting my daughter a little vest or sweater. Might be crazy.
