Exterior Painting

I am oh so thankful this is not my job. I can't believe that even a professional painter has the strength of will to take on this project, it's so very endless.

But he has. These old boards are very needy. Scraping, replacing siding, caulking, sealing wasps into the walls(!), priming, and eventually a fresh new coat of Benjamin Moore Cottage Red.

  1. Daunting job! Good luck to the painter. You'll hopefully have a beautiful house afterwards.

  2. I think it must be a calling for painters who are willing to tackle old house, etc. No instant gratification but what a reward when the job is done!

  3. My son began scraping yesterday. Ooh but cottage red? It was so tempting... I can't wait to see the finished beauty!

  5. I'm glad you don't have to do that either! My aunt and uncle live in the ancestral farmhouse down the lane. Every summer they scrape, caulk, paint and seal another side of the house. Like--EVERY year. They say it makes the task manageable but I think it is downright Sisyphian!

  6. We have not so long ago watched our dear old home transformed too ... with lots of coffee, cool drinks and cakes for the brave (professional) painters!
Your home is so beautiful ...
