Realizing that with the "Lacy Shrug" I had definitely bitten off more than I could chew, I started over on a straightforward pullover. It's the "Ribbed Sweater" from Sarah Dallas'
Vintage Knits, which is apparently my favorite knitting book. Ribbing (not like lace) has a built-in error alarm system. If a stitch is wrong, it shows up immediately. This is helpful to me.
Glossy dark green cotton, knitting on size 4s, front and back finished, working on the first sleeve.
Go, Anna!

That color is lovely!
ReplyDeleteRibbing is helpful that way! One trick for lace that I don't know if anybody has told you about (I'd been knitting for years but never heard of it until a friend asked me why on earth I wasn't doing it) is having a "life line"... every 3 or 5 or 10 or however many rows you're pretty confident you've got right, just run a string through your stitches before knitting the next row. That way if you make a mistake you don't have to undo the whole thing (and getting the stitches back on the needle isn't so painful). Good luck! :-)
ReplyDeleteI need to get another knitting project set up. I am embroidering so much, but you just can't do that during the day with the little ones around.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the color of your sweater! Gorgeous! I used to knit both sleeves on the same needle with two balls of yarn to be sure they were the same length. :-) LOL
