Stitchcase

Everything I need for hand-stitching in the car is right here--beads, thread, needles, pressed binding strips, and under the tray, the garments ready to go.

I guess I need to look into packing some other things too. Like clothes and bedding and food. Soon.

  1. Anna, as a non-sewer I am less in awe of what you are about to hand sew than the fact you can sew in the car! I cannot read or sew or do anything like that as I get travel sick easily. I can knit if it's something that doesn't need my attention -- as in looking -- but I'm sooo envious that you can make this use of car travel time.

  2. I have kits for the car, too, but none as cool as yours, my dear.

I've begun, worked upon and finished literally thousands of projects in the car. When we're on furlough or deputizing from coast to coast, North to South, I loathe sitting there "idylly."

And now, amidst the horrible Manila congestion of cars, buses and jeepneys, I still work, work, work in the car. It's actually best that I do: the traffic laws aren't that but suggestions... So my husband says, "Babe, don't look. Put your eyes back on your sewing and leave the driving to me."

    Okay.

  3. You've taken care of the important stuff first. :D

I'm with Rose - how I wish I could do that!

  4. Always fun to see a woman with the right priorities! You know the clothes and bedding will work out, but what if you forgot the best needles, or the exact spool of thread? It has happened to me...leaves me a bit on edge... it is best to pack them first. Love the train-case idea! Elaine

  5. that is so clever and cute! Is it a tackle box? What is it? I usually put my things in a bag, but a bag is so floppy. I like your approach with structure.

  6. Are you on your way to Charleston? Y'all might enjoy Gaulart & Maliclet, also called Fast & French, a tiny cafe on Broad Street between the courthouse and the Cathedral. Everything is very fresh, good for breakfast, lunch or supper, and when you are ready to sit in a dim place out of the afternoon sun while making plans for your next stop or just to catch your breath a croissant and coffee (or their Hibiscus punch or Cassis and mineral water) is P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

  8. I also use an old make-up case for my traveling crafts! I have a light blue one that used to belong to my grandmother and it is just the right size for a couple of pairs of two-at-a-time socks or one pair and a scarf.

  10. This is so much better than my bag o' sewing stuff for the car. Beautifully done! You've set me off on a hunt now...
