Alabama Studio Style: Circle-Spiral Applique Dress in Turquoise

I finished the circle-spiral dress I was making myself and love wearing it. Like all these jersey dresses, it is so easy to throw on, but because of all the stitching and high-powered color, it feels like so much more.

I was thinking ocean when I chose these colors and placements. I think that comes through a little!

  1. It certainly does come through! I love it. It's so hard to find a nice cotton knit, but I'd love to make a knit dress like this!

  3. Did you put sleeves on? Do the sleeves for the tshirt fit the tank dresses? It's really beautiful and looks just like waves!

  5. So beautiful! FYI, I made a navy blue and cream maternity dress for myself last winter in this style, after seeing the dress you made for Clara awhile back. This new dress makes me want to make a another (with a discernible waist this time).

  6. Yes, I added sleeves. I haven't actually tried the tee-shirt sleeves, I just use a sleeve from a different knit dress pattern. I thought about leaving it sleeveless and wearing it with a sweater in cold weather, and as is in the summer--it would be truly all four seasons then! But I decided to make it cozy.

    Thanks for the comments!

  10. Is the AC jersey worth the price? I have to say yes--the colors are beautiful, the grain is fairly straight (a big issue with cheaper jersey), and dash it all, it's just about the only all-cotton jersey out there anymore.

  11. It's pretty, it really is. And, I'll bet having the extra fabric at the bottom gives it some pull, a nice drapey-ness.
