Here is some excellent reading aloud--the Freddy the Pig series. We have multi-generational enjoyment going on here, with grandparents getting in on the act and lots of loans and presents changing hands both ways as everyone makes sure they've read them all.
These are some self-respecting animals! Enjoy.
Oh thank you!! My 7-year-old finishes books faster than I can preview the next one for him. These look perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation! I had not heard of these books, but I just reserved several of the series at my local library. I'm looking forward to enjoying them with my boys! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Freddy the Pig! =) It's nice to know someone else who does as well! (I mean someone that I did not introduce him to!) =)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of our favorite series!
ReplyDeleteI just called my kids over to read your post...it is of interest to them bc they have just recently found out about these books and have read many of them from the library over the past month or so.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about interesting old book series that I never came across as a child even though I was an avid reader.
How could I have missed Freddy the Pig? Thanks for the recommendation, Anna!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Freddy the Pig. Have you listened to him on tape? Mrs. Wiggins is priceless! Thank you for the reminder to introduce him to my younger set.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I used to read these as a kid, and had forgotten all about them; I am going to have to hunt for some used ones. Thanks for the memory. I always enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Pam
One of my friends, a middle-school teacher, recommended these highly to me. Must look into them! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you! I've been looking for something good to read my kindergartener that still might be entertaining to her big brother, and this looks like it will fit the bill nicely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for recommending these books. My son loves pigs; I think I would enjoy reading these to him.
ReplyDeleteFamily reading blessings! So gratifying.
ReplyDeleteWe're almost done with the series and I will be so sad when it's over. I am still reading this aloud to my teens and they love it! Hurrah for reading aloud, it's what they did back in the day before TV.

You're reminding me of happy days when we read some of the Freddy books with our kids. So silly, and so serious about it.
ReplyDeleteAND it's fun to read from your commenters of others who read aloud and keep reading after kids can read themselves. Some of our best family times were in the living room, reading aloud before bed.
Freddy the Pig series is one of the funniest I have ever read. My favorites: Freddy the Detective, Freddy Goes to the North Pole, and Freddy Goes to Florida.
